Buffalo has a very poor run defense and LT hasn't rushed well in weeks. Enough of this tired stuff. Maybe a big game vs. Buffalo will give the running game some confidence. 1,000 yards would be a nice accomplishment, no matter what the Jets are saying in public about it.
I'll just be happy if we finish the regular season at 11-5 and go into the playoffs on a winning note.
This game means nothing. LT, Cro, Revis, Sanchez, even Mangold should not play much. I want to see them rested as much as possible, and fresh for the playoffs. Heck, I don't even want to see Greene play much. Throw McKnight out there. Wilson too. get these project players some time in a real game where the outcome means nothing. Ducasse too, after Sanchez is pulled. You never know who might get hurt in week one of the playoffs. Let these backups get as much playing time as possible.
Winning a Superbowl would be a nice accomplishment, no matter what the analyists are saying in public about it. 1,000 yards would be nice for him to get. I am also like you, hoping for early season flashbacks and tired of not seeing him performing as well. I still believe Tomlinson may have his best game yet to come, but perhaps some rest will be required to get him there? If anyone, I would like McKnight to have a big game vs. Buffalo.
I'd rather he rest and save his legs for the playoffs. We clearly aren't going to try and win Sunday.
Let the offense play half the game, we all know what happens to the team with more than 8 days of rest
I agree- extra reps and getting a 1000 yard season aren't going to do the team much good and the potential downside could be huge. I think we will win Sunday, but it's pretty clear that we aren't going to risk any big setbacks to do so. We're one of the few playoff teams that are going to be resting a lot of starters. Moving up a notch in the seeding would require a lot of unlikely circumstances, and I think the coaches would prefer to be going to KC the following week anyway.
Yep. LT needs to be fresh because he's played like horseshit the last half of the season. Greene needs to be healthy because we'll need to rely on him in the playoffs. Give McKnight and that Woodhe... er, John Connor all the carries.
My point is that LT and the Jets running game hasn't been good in weeks, especially LT and that a big game vs. Buffalo might do him well, confidence wise going forward. Whole Jet running game could use a big game to give them a little confidence.
Him not running well is entirely his fault. Earlier on we would run it the right or left, now it seems LT is used for straight runs up the middle and everytime hes running into a wall. The reason why we keep using him tho is because it opens up the check downs to him.
LT also rested prior to every playoff run in SD, and he has sucked in the playoffs. Let the guy keep his legs moving. I guarantee if he sits, he will be non effective come the playoffs.
The guys what, in the top 3 HBs in the history of the nfl and a 100% lock to be a first ballot hall of famer. You think confidence is an issue for him ?
Go look through his playoff stats http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/T/TomlLa00/gamelog/post/ Notice something ? Hes almost NEVER been healthy in the playoffs. I think he played like 1 or 2 full playoff games ever in his career (which they won) Almost every other year he was either injured going into that game, or got injured in that game. MANY of his career playoff games he has < 10/15 touches. The guy has always been beat to shit by the time playoff comes around. Which makes it THAT much more important to rest him, and even MORE important to get the guys behind him touches.
Yup. SD always ran him into the ground and he was always VERY banged up when the games got into the sudden death of the playoffs. Let him rest. He definitely does not look as quick as he was in the first half of the season. He has no confidence problem. He's an old RB with a shitload of mileage on the chasis. Rest the guy.
