I'd think that anyone that hasn't gone to the playoffs for a few years would be happy as a fan. Are you saying you wouldn't? Weren't Jets' fans speaking about the Super Bowl after success in 2004? Who cares about recent failures - only a loser dwells on the past. We've seen "failures" win SBs in recent history - besides, luckily, we have a coach who has won three Super Bowls in his career. Hey, I believe that helps, right? We may not win next year, but damned if we won't be optimistic, at least for a fun season: Who wants the No Fun League?
My mistake, he had ONE 12.5 sacks season then his next highest sack year is 6.5 and the last 2 years total he has 6.5. But they had the best RB in football for years(Portis is good but he's not close to Priest was those years) and he had Gonzalez and even w/ all this talent they couldn't get to the playoffs but once and couldn't win a playoff game(though they did put up points in the loss so it wasn't their fault). Oh and Wash doesn't have half the Ol KC had. the KC OL was as dominant as could be and that's a huge factor as well so the need for big time WRs is minimized b/c Green had all day to throw. Santana is your biggest playmaker and in his career he has never had 2 straight healthy years. i was talking SB bot playoffs and even when Brunell was a top QB he wasn't a SB QB even though he had a great Jax team w/ multiple opportunities to get to a SB.
1. Santana Moss missed a total of basically 1 play last year and thats becuase he went up the middle and got smashed by Brian Dawkins and still cought the ball. Maybe he is turning his injury prone years around? 2. Don't bring Mark Brunells Jacksonville years in this. Who cares about them?
1. he was healthy all of 2003(coincidentally his other big year) but then fell back in '04 so let's see him put 2 healthy seasons back to back before we proclaim his injury prone days are over. 2. Brunell was actually good when he was in jax and still couldn't get it done. he had a very good 1st half last year then came back down to Earth. To expect him to have another season like last is asking alot.
And this can be very possibly attributed to his switch in position and less-than-desirable Niners' defense. Priest Holmes has had some great years, but Portis has had almost 6,000 yards and 45 TDs in three years - Portis isn't a slouch, himself. http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/302215 And the reason that KC couldn't get to the playoffs is because of their poor defense - the Chiefs never had a top-ten defense like the Redskins, and if they did, they would have experienced much better success. The Chiefs have a great OL, but I don't think you are very familiar with the Redskins' OL if you don't think they aren't even half of KC's line. The Redskins have a good offensive line - not as good, per se, as KC's, but they are good, and coached by Joe Bugel, one of the game's best OL coach. Plus, factor in Al Saunders, who helped to scheme KC's line, and an improved passing game which normally improves the OL play. The Redskins had solid play out of their OL last year and Brunell had time to throw; I believe you may want to take a look at the 'Skins OL if you feel that they are a poor bunch of players. That is not correct, per se. And adding multiple weapons is sure to add to his health during the season. Did you even watch Brunell at that time during the mid-to-late 90's? He was one of the games better, if not best, quarterbacks. Especially when the Jags went 14-2, I believe, and only lost to the Titans because of the Music City Miracle, he was definitely a SB-worthy QB. After all, Steve McNair, while very good, isn't exactly the Peyton Manning of passing.

He came down to earth? No actually he repulled the injury he had in his leg in 2004 when he absolutely sucked after Osi Unimorya tackled him below the knees(thats illegal now). The offense just comes down to Brunells legs health.
W/ that O they should have been able to at least get to postseason mroe than once. how is that not correct? He completely changed your team. and if you are debtaing health just look back at his injury history. Portis is good but hsi #s ahve gone down since leaving Den. He averagd 5.5 YPC in Den and in 2 years w/ Wash just over 4 and he has 16 TDs in 2 years in Wash compared to 29 in 2 w/ Den. Those are good #s but those are not Priest #s. In Priest's last 3 full seasons he has averaged 4.8 YPC and averaged 19 TDs a season and in only 8 games in '04 he already had 14 TDs which was 3 more than Portis' best season in DC. I said he was one of the game's best QBs in the mid-late 90s w/ Jax and w/ such a great team still couldn't get them to a SB. The Music City miracle was Ten vs. Buffalo. Ten dominated jax at Jax in the AFC Title Game in a 33-14 win and in 2 AFC Title Games Brunell has led his team to a total of 20 pts. He kept playing, no excuses.
He had a phenomenal year last year and was excellent late in 2004. he never really got a chance until late 2004 and ever since he has gotten a chance he's been great. I would definitely take him over Portis though obviously I wouldn't be upset if I had Portis.
I am not sure what that has to the with anything, but lacking an effective defense can be devastating year after year. And who says that they should have? "Defense wins championships" is the old saying. That has little bearing on the Redskins, who indeed have an effective defense. He was healthy last year, and from 2002 to 2005 missed what - two games? I don't believe he is as injury plagued as you are asserting. Different systems, with a returning coach trying to tweak his offensive system, as well as Portis being used in a different manner. (Smash mouth vs finesse/stretch). Also, Porti's numbers did improve as the coaching staff figured out out to use Portis' skills. 1,500 yards, either way, and 11 TDs, is NOT a bad season. And, of course, you are comparing a good RB with a RB that has been in the league's top offense that has been playing together for years. I don't see how that invalidates Clinton as a player at all since you are comparing apples to oranges in this situation. Also, this should not be an indication of Clinton as a player at all. Some players have variations of success as they change systems and as the coaching staff adjusts to the players. But Clinton's improvement last year may very well indicate that he will have even further success under Saunders. My darn memory! Darn my memory - yeah, they were so close together I did get them mixed up. But Brunell is one player on a team - a team that had a good record that year and as a strong contender, and he was a part of that success. No excuses given. But a QB's leg is how he throw accurately, and obviously, considering last year's improvement, it made a difference. Larry Johnson had a good last year, for sure. But I believe that Clinton will continue to have success in an offense that promises to be effective and possibly even more balanced then KC's offense.
