I think Schotty's play calling today was terrific. I think these short passes to get Sanchez comfortable is exactly what we need to do in order to keep the opposing defenses honest.

One of the formations that I saw that we opened up the first drive with was a two tight end formation with Keller in the slot and Hartstock lined up as a tight end. We ran out of it and it worked pretty well and I really wish we went back to it. Lining up in a single back formation with Keller in the Slot allows us to do so much as well as makes the offense that much easier for the qb.

    1. with Keller in the slot they are either putting a LB on him (ADV in pass game) or a cb (ADV in Run game). We know not most lbs can't keep up with Keller on quick routes and I am sure that if Keller can block a De or OLB, he can block a nickelback. This can also really help Sanchez in reading the defenses and limits olb or cb blitzes. In addition this can help us open up our wr bubble screens.

    2. This also allows Keller to get an easier release off the line. I don't see getting off the line being a problem for him but, I am sure he wouldn't mind not having to deal with D-lineman.

    3. Having Keller in the slot with Free releases can allow us to have our Wrs. get one on one matchups outside and get better deep ball opportunities. Running slants, posts, and curls in the center of the field, the Safety will be consistently having to help out the lb in coverage eventually leaving Holmes open on fly routes.

Just to hit on a topic that I briefly mentioned. I think Schotty needs to be more consistant with his formations. Its great to always keep the defense on their heals because they have never seen a certain formation, but a defense can have the same problem figuring out what you are going to do if you are able to run so many different things out of 1 formation. And I thnk a singleback formation with Keller in the Slot could really make Sanchez's life easier.

I thought The ability to put Keller in the slot was one of the great things about drafting him. I am glad we started doing this, hopefully we start seeing more of it to come. Love the potential mismatches it produces.

He runs way to many stick routes for my liking ... I see other Tight Ends take their liberties on Scott and were running this ultra safe play for 5-6 yds, it's not like were milking the play the play either the way Dallas does with Witten. Just frustrating

I was watching the Giants game and saw Boss fake the Stick and get the LB completely out of position for an Easy TD
