I know I know... you are all uber hardcore Jets fans who will never EVER root for another team... but some results would be very handy for us this week so keep an eye out for:

    1) Jaguars beating Colts

This would almost certainly eliminate the Colts (9-7 at best) from the play-offs and give the AFC south to the Jaguars.

    2) Bills beating Dolphins

This would make sure we finish in 2nd and not 3rd place in the division. Bills have been playing well recently and the Dolphins are still partying for beating us.

    3) Rams beating Chiefs

If we finish with the same record as the Chiefs we should (if we beat Steelers OR Bills) have a better conference record.

bonus: for all you optimsts... Saints beating Ravens.

If we win all three we can be the 5th seed and the Ravens will be the 6th. If we finish tied they have an edge over us.

actually i kind of don't want the chiefs to lose. If they win out SD either can't get in (which is good, who wants to play those fucks?) if we win 2 games, or they don't get a home playoff game if they get a WC over Baltimore.

Yes I realize that our life gets harder if SD wins out and doesnt win the division, but I am holding out hope those bastards lose a god damn game

Imagine seeing the Chargers again in the playoffs this year.We may have to payoff Kaeding again!

    Saints

Actually, if I had to chose one of these, it would be Saints over Ravens. The Saints are playing pretty good of late, and are trying to chase the Falcons.

I agree with this, when the Chargers play well this year they're one of the best teams in the league. But they haven't exactly been a good playoff team so either one would be fine with me.

The Chiefs have the worse conference record so if the Chargers did take the division that would help us in terms of tiebreakers if it came down to the Chiefs.

Chargers dont scare me in the playoffs. 0 run game and injuries all around. Just have to sit back and defend the pass.

Considering our lack of a passrush, shit safeties, and questionable nicklebacks...I'm worried. Gates will be a big problem

Except if SD wins, they likely finish 4th among division winners and get New England in the 2nd round, provided we finish 6th, of course.

I'd be careful with the "likely" there. If the Colts and Chargers win out and the Chiefs lose a game (not an outlandish possibility), then the Chargers will be the 3 seed and the Colts would be the 4 seed.

I think the ideal scenario right now is a trip to Jacksonville in the Wild Card round.

Jags and Chiefs, would rather face either in the playoffs rather than the Colts or Chargers. Though the Jets usually play the Chargers well in the playoffs (along with the Chargers are choke artists), they also usually beat the Chiefs in the playoffs. Don't want the Raiders in either.... and for the Jags, payback for last year's terrible outing would be oh so sweet.

In terms of the Dolphins, messing around with the playoff machine, as long as the Jets beat Buffalo, Miami cannot pass the Jets..

So, if Jags and Rams win, the Jets will be in very good shape, as just the sole win against Buffalo would suffice to make the playoffs..

Jacksonville is solid all-around...would not want to play that team in the first round, tbh

I want the Chiefs or Jags in the WC round, because they'll be a good stepping stone and confidence booster to play the tough 1/2 seeds. NE and PIT are dangerous as fuck, and the Jets have to execute and play mistake free to upset them.

Root for the Jags, Chiefs, and Saints this week.

We should probably sympathize for the Jets b/c they've sucked and may get eaten alive by the Steelers.
