Exactly. The defense played lights fucking out for the first time in a while, and are deserving of ZERO criticism. The offense, however, is a whole different story. Pathetic.
I think this scenario seems more likely: and he did mention that he thought the defense looked good in his presser.
Bart Scott vs. Brandon Marshall does deserve some criticism. Especially when the defense didn't realize that Patrick Cobbs was the guy split out wide and adjust accordingly. But aside from that one, they put up a great game.
i don't see how the jet's offense was so putrid. the jets went up against a top 5 D, as did the fins, hence the stagnant o's. besides the mistakes on both sides, that basically negated each other, you can't coach pro's who drop the ball like holmes and cotchery did. they just need to not drop balls, thats not coaching, just shitty timing for drops. i will say tho, and i say this from the perspective of a dolphin fan who has his own quarterback to worry about, that it seems that sanchez struggles in rough weather. not a good division to have that problem in. i don't think, and i say this honestly, that any blame should be put on anyone. holmes and cotchery are good receivers, they just dropped key passes. the run game was non-existent, but the dolphin defense is the truth...has been all year. it was a rivalry game, and thats how rivalry games go. wouldn't be too disheartened if i were a jets fan.
Henne is just as good as Sanchez, and Sanchez has much, much more talent around him. Not gonna look at the stats, but im sure they'd tell a similar story. EDIT: actually i will look up the stats. Henne has a higher qb rating of 75, 25 tds 29 ints. Sanchez qb rating is 69, 28tds and 32 ints. In 3 years of work, as opposed to Sanchez 2, Henne has 4 less sacks. Can you really argue that the Jets offense has more talent surrounding Sanchez than does the Dolphins surrounding Henne? At least Henne has a young team he can grow with. Sanchez has old pieces (besides keller and greene) all around him.. Anyways, i wasn't trying to bash. But don't act like Sanchez is just experiencing difficulties and Henne just isn't good. They are peers with similar stats in every possible category, including wins and losses..
Hard to gauge how well the Jets defense played. The Miami offense is putrid and unable to move the ball. Jets defense is not nearly as good as last years version and the loss of Leonhard made it worse. We'll have a good idea of not only how your defense is playing but whether or not Rex/Sanchez can turn the offensive woes around when they absolutely have to after the Steelers game.
It might not be as good as last year's but it's still solid. 3rd run ypg , 6th pts, 3rd overall ypg allowed. Considering how dismal the passrush has been at times this year, it's a credit to the back seven and RR for mixing it up. It's clear we need to draft and/or sign a gamebreaking 34 OLB tweener. Your OL was awful on Sunday... Is saying that unit has regressed over the course of this season a fair statement or what?
like us,they lost their starting RT. i said it before the game that not having vernon carey would make a big difference. he's a pro bowl caliber type tackle
Yeah I would agree with this assessment, both QB's are experiencing struggles that happen when one is learning how to stay one step ahead of the D in the NFL. Time will tell which one, if either, will pan out but they both show flashes of potential and dismal inaccuracies at times.
Henne is terrible. Sanchez has played more like Henne the last two games than he has played like he normally does. Comparing stats isn't telling the whole story.
i think you're kidding yourself! sanchez is henne for all intents and purposes. same stats same amount of time in the league and sanchez has far more talent to work with and a soft schedule of teams to pad his stats. if you can step back and look at sanchez objectively, his play has been marginal at best. he came back on some games this year, but he played terrible in most of them and desperation plays went his way. overall, his play has been less than stellar. look past the sanchize hype and his stats against the rest of the leagues qb's, and you'll see he's bottom tier. reality! i'm not saying he's a bust, just it's too soon to know what we really have. stat wise, average to below average qb. the kid with the rams, just blows sanchez away as far as qb ability. bradford is already heads and shoulders above and beyond sanchez in just his first season.
That's not even close to true- Sanchez had a bad game, if he was on and the receivers were too the game would not have been close. Henne is a full year ahead of Sanchez and Sanchez is still better.
In this case it really has nothing to do with the media, I heard him in his ESPN 1050 spot yesterday and he said the defense should not have given up the TD, which is absurd IMO and afterward when he was asked about the offense and the job BS was doing he had nothing but praise for BS. Which is bad news for the guys who want BS gone, the guy is going no where.
