I think 95% of them are not effective, Sanchez is not patient enough or maybe not tall enough to execute them correctly... so why do we keep wasting downs running this low % play?

It is sad on so many levels that a screen pass is a low percentage play for this team.

Because it looks like it could be very effective half the time we don't execute it. Our QB should be able to complete a god damn screen pass.

sanchez gets flustered, panics and then throws a fastball at the receiver ... ever since the near picked screen pass in mia, he has absolutely no touch with those passes

also, none of our guys seems to get a chip on the rushers ... we always seem in such a hurry to get out for the screen that the entire D is in our backfield

    he had happy feet yesterday

the pick and the fumble affected his play the rest of the game.

it didn't help that his protection broke down

Not just yesterday, I can;t remember the last screen play we ran that was successfull... I vaguely remember a TE screen to keller in week 1 of last season, that's about it though.

The first 1st down of the game to Cotchery was a screen play yesterday.

Oh bubble screens, not really what I'm talking about.. if Sanchez can't throw a bubble screen then we'd be in REALLY big trouble.

I mean HB screens for the most part... stuff where the QB has to actually do something.

I see your point but why the fuck can the Pats gain 300 yards on screen passes and we can't even get completions. This is simple shit. Go back to the dink and dunk as long as they are 3 - 6 yards a clip.

I want to know what they are thinking. The one play that killed me was the Jets needed 4 for a 1st down (don't remember whn in the game). But they throw a pass to Santonio - that he dropped - 4 yards behind the 1st down marker. With Defenders there, even if he completed the pass he ain't gonna get the 1st. What is going on with that....

Oh for sure, we seem to throw many passes on 3d down that are no where close to the chains... I'd have to assume the play call is retarded, i know shocker and also Sanchez being gun shy....

Or an irritating situation last night where on a 3d and long instead of an easy 7 - 10 yard scramble that would've given us FG rangge, sanchez tries to squeeze one into holmes in double coverage...

And don't get me started on the 1st down spike on our last drive..

but its these types of poor decisions that just have me scratching my head... should he really be making these mistakes at this stage ?!

We always seem to throw screen passes on third and long and we end up with 6 yards, it's a joke.

Better than a draw play, right?

    Right?

he tends to throw his screens high every time...did it yesterday and against NW...LT is a great player to run those with and it would soften up everything on the defense. They just can't hit them. Need more YAC plays

Yes, better than a draw which gives us 2 yards and way better than the ever popular Wild Cat which gives me nausea.

The funny thing is the screens would work if they were executed correctly.

Almost every screen play that I've seen since Detroit (Note, we've only began calling them more often) Looks like it would have been a big play because there were no defenders in the area.

    2 things,
    - the Linemen aren't selling it enough
    - Sanchez's delievery is rushed.

They are running the screens too quickly. What makes the screen work is the patience of the play.
Fact is, the timing is all over the fukin place on the screens.

    Wanna see some beautiful screens?
Watch Thurman Thomas and the BILLS.
    Absolute poetry in motion

You type it and we think it...and then the agita sets in.

Its no wonder we have a poster named 3rd & 15 - draw cause that was Hermie's staple play with Hackett. And it was a play that usually went no where...

Absolutely right - one of the biggest problems on the screen is rushing it. Sanchez treats the ball like a hot potato too often in those circumstances, the oline doesn't sell the "block" portion on the d line - therefore it gets sniffed out easily.

What gets me is we used to have success in the wildcat with Smith running an option type play outside. Now every freakin time it is a stutter step then run straight up the middle. This team needs to get creative and find a way to get outside and get their backs (LT) in space. There is no surge with straight ahead run blocking.

Doesn't it make ya wonder what the hell goes in at practice!......WTF........tired of seeing those 4 yard fastballs from Sanchez....I guess we'll never see a sweep either, or a little swing pass now and then.......Fuck Sottenheimer

Sanchez really does not to calm down when he's throwing them. That one pass to Keller was a bullet that should have been an easy lob.
