I think in order to be able to decide what the right thing is here you'd need to know more about Alosi and what kind of a person he is and what his track record looks like. If he has been doing stupid things and acting like an unprofessional douchebag since day one and this is like the last straw - I'd fire him. But if he is normally an excellent employee and a good person who is professional and obeys rules and if this was just a dumb mistake and he's truly apologetic about this - then I'd be inclined to not fire him. Sometimes good people do really dumb things and sometimes they deserve a second chance.
You know what, YOU are right. The most level-headed response to this I've seen all day. (myself included)
His job is to get unhealthy players healthy. To do anything that could jeopardize any player or person's health is beyond dumb. I'd compare this to a fireman playing with matches in a fireworks factory.
hahaha!!! He is avery good strength coach... no way i want him fired for a minor incident like that. Don't be a fucking moralist... PS WOW how many moralists on this site!!! Didn't expect that...
It absolutely matters, man. Alosi represents the organization. A strength and conditioning coach did this? That's like a doctor purposely engaging in malpractice. It's one thing to have a head coach who talks too much smack to the media. It's another thing to have one of your non-roster employees take an action that could seriously injure a player. I hope Alosi gets shit canned (and blacklisted from the NFL). And I hope the Jets do it quickly. To handle this matter in any way that isn't expedited is to be in collusion. Between Edwards' DUI (he had a FREE luxury car at his disposal to be driven home in!), and others harassing that female sideline reporter, I'm embarrassed on behalf of this organization (to say nothing of their last two performances). Geeze, let's not turn into the Bengals.
For the record i do not think he should be fired - however - a stiff suspension is in order likely for the rest of the year. not sure if that would fly with the NFL but that would be my starting point. jil
They have to fire him. Strength and conditioning coaches are a dime a dozen. Even more embarassing then the loss itself.
fire him. there is no other course of action. he has really put a black eye on the entire organization and made everyone look terrible. this is HORRIBLE for rex because everyone already hates him and now they have something to go after him about. it wasnt a lapse of judgement, it was a meathead move and something that everyone will say you should expect from the jets with the way the head coach acts. there have been alot of really ugly things going on with this coaching staff this year, the finger, the issue with the female reporter, these things all look bad and shows a lack of professionalism in the teams management. did it look to anyone else like these guys set themselves up right in that area right along the edge of the field in order to get in the guys way? it sure looked that way to me. which is fine but shows intent to disrupt... which is fine but get your meathead self OUT of the way when someone is coming rather than getting IN the way. one of those dipshits is going to get themselves hurt. i do feel as though setting up there was something these dipshits came up with themselves.
eh, who cares. This is already blown up way out of proportion. It isn't like he ran onto the field and sacked Chad Henne. The only black eye on this organization is the shitty play that we've seen the last 3+ weeks.
The bottom line is someone's head has to roll for this because it's a PR nightmare for the entire organization starting from Woody down to the last asst coach on the team. That head will be Alosi's as a S&C coach is expendable in relation to other figures in this organization. Someone has to go and it will be Alosi.
Why the fuck hasn't this dipshit been fired yet? Leave it up to the league? That's compounding the stupid. Don't be a pussy, Rex. Fire that dumb fucking jersey shore wannabe.
You have no clue. How about Rex gets behind this guy and says: " he fucked up; a lot of people fuck up in this game and would like to retrieve their actions. He is one of us and we will deal with it". END OFF If this guy is thrown under the bus we better have a long hard look at ourselves.
He screwed up, he wasn't thinking and he did something stupid. He has apologized and he'll be punished for his bad sportsmanship. Termination seems to be a pretty harsh punishment for this type of infraction.
The guy screwed up. He saw what I think anyone else here saw: Carroll running out of bounds...yet again...trying to avoid being blocked by the punt return team. Instead of returning immediately to the field like the rules require, Carroll kept moving downfield while out of bounds. Alosi obviously knew what he was doing - it was the old "I am going to discretely lean my knee forward and hope this moron doesn't see me and will take the old stinger in the thigh" routine. Had Carroll been either paying attention or FOLLOWING THE RULES, he would have immediately gotten back on the field instead of trying to sneak his way down the sideline out of bounds. I think we can see plenty of times in a single game where more questionable actions have happened on the sideline when players are tackled or run out of bounds and almost get themselves killed. It is always the same - you run out on the opposing teams sideline no one is going to stop you from getting hurt, if you run out on your sideline guys are lined up to help you. Is what Alosi did poor sportsmanship? Sure it is. Should he be fired? Geez if that is the standard than no one in the NFL is going to have a job, including guys who kill dogs and murder people at the Super Bowl.
