He can play WR, which we needed when we kept Clowney, can play RB of course, and STs, which he's doing. No spot for a guy like that? Ok.
Once upon a time we did not need another safety either. Bringing in David Clowney and losing a talented RB (which is one of the most injury prone positions in the game) was just dumb.
If our OC wasn't terrified of a proper screen pass he could have had some success here too. But that can go with the brainless Schotty threads as well...
So any QB could run the Pats offense? Didn't you just call him the best QB of a generation? Still haven't seen anyone tell me where he would be putting up numbers for the Jets, just more talk about what he has done with the Pats.
We have McKnight if someone goes down. Maybe if he gets a shot, like Woodhead was given when someone went down in NE, he will succeed. I'm not saying he will, but some of you seem to assume he'll suck. Calling him a wasted roster spot seems to imply that you know he's no good. The Jets needed a WR that week, not a RB. It wasn't about David Clowney being a better football player. It was about David Clowney knowing the WR position in our offense and us needing a WR that week. That's what happens to guys that are marginal NFL talents, sometimes they get cut when it comes to the numbers game.
Right, Woodhead is the first scat back in the history of the NFL. He looks good playing for the Pats with Brady in an offense that is working perfectly lately. I have never seen a back look better running away from Mike Devito in coverage before.
I'm not implying he's no good, I'm saying we kept him over two guys that are now more productive elsewhere. One who we knew was great, the other who showed more when he was here.
What I said was, he's not the only guy that can throw a screen pass or hand off. (And Yes...at least half of the QB's in the league could run the Pats offense. Kyle F*ng Orton is looking pretty good, as is Matt f*ng Cassel.) It's the scheme. Steve Young was not going to win Rings in Tampa Bay.
Devito was the fastest player on the field...who went to U Maine. I think Woodhead could play on third downs for us, lined up in the backfield or at WR and on ST. I am not a fan of Shonn Greene and his fumbles.
Do you know what you have seen.... Two very talented football players, under (not) utilized by this coaching staff. First Washington, then Woodhead. When Richie Anderson was here, we utilized every single talent the man had..be it out wide, out of the backfield, blocking, or on ST. This offensive staff sucks at utilizing unique talent.
I agree with that this yr. LOL, what an odd year it has been. Brandon Lloyd has also been > Andre Johnson. SICK.
Well if this is what you are going to argue you are really hurting your Woodhead argument. Any scat back could could catch a wide open screen or take a hand off through a huge hole. It's the scheme. See how easy that is?
You don't know how productive McKnight would be on a team that needs his skill set right now. If we cut him like we did woodchuck we'd probably find out though. You keep bitching and moaning about something that doesn't exist here. It's like having a filet mignon (LT, Greene) in front of your face and bitching that the neighbor is eating the t-bone you gave to them because it was just going to go bad in your fridge.
This is a fantasy football post, not football post. Stats don't mean someone's better. Now next topic, I can't decide if Woodhead's more like a white Randy Moss or Curtis Martin....or some kind of fusion between them?
