Hats off to the Patriots but this is the 2010 season and what happened last time when the Patriots took a game lead? they lost it the very next week. The Bears are no easy opponent and were able to stop Vick. We play at 4:00, they play at 4:00 We could control our own fate as soon as next week. That's very scary to think of considering how terrible we played tonight.
Meh, I really don't see NE losing another game. But the Bears are a more complete defensive team then we are...they could give NE a run for their money
We play at 4:15 We're going to Pittsburg and Chicago afer Phins game. It's not so easy, i give us 20% of chance to win the AFCE
After our first loss, we went on a 5 game winning streak playing some of the best football we've seen the Jets play in years. After our second loss, we went on a 4 game winning streak in which the Jets won games in ways we haven't seen them win since...ever. What'll happen our 3rd loss? *shrugs*
If we finish tied NE wins the tiebreaker I belive.Honestly dont see them losin another game though. They just get better every week!
i'm not really worried about that right now. i just want to beat miami to settle things down. i don't expect to win the division after tonight. if it happens it happens but we have bigger issues right now.
no, it depends on who New England's third loss is to. if they lose within the division and we don't lose again, Jets win.
This. Granted, we'll probably give it right back at Chicago or at Pittsburgh. But if we win out, we still have a solid chance at the division. The problem is regrouping after such a beatdown. EDIT: No we don't (see below)
http://www.nfl.com/standings/tiebreakingprocedures TO BREAK A TIE WITHIN A DIVISION If, at the end of the regular season, two or more clubs in the same division finish with identical won-lost-tied percentages, the following steps will be taken until a champion is determined. Two Clubs Head-to-head (best won-lost-tied percentage in games between the clubs). Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the division. Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference. Strength of victory. Strength of schedule. Best combined ranking among conference teams in points scored and points allowed. Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed. Best net points in common games. Best net points in all games. Best net touchdowns in all games. Coin toss
I believe if the Jets and Pats finish tied and assuming the Pats do NOT lose again to another AFC East team, we will LOSE the 5th tiebreaker even if we tie New England. Basically, besides winning out, we really need for NE to lose another game to an AFC East team.
That sounds right. Pats lead by 14 in strength of victory right now, and I don't think there's any way we can really make that up. If they lose to Buffalo or Miami, we win that tiebreaker though. Or if they lost both NFC games and we finished ahead of them.
It still pays to have a great record: we want the 5th seed to play the 4th seed, and we want NE to have to play another tough opponent from the 6 vs. 3 round.
What tough opponent? San Diego is the only team that really scares me that we can play against, and we just beat them last year. If KC wins that division and Jax is the 4 seed, I'd be fine with that, but there's a good chance the Colts are the 4 and the Chiefs are the 3. Is that what you'd want?
We'll know more after this week and certainly Week 14. But right now, I am not sure that Indy is gonna make it.....KC can KO San Diego this Sunday.....if NE wins the division, they'll play the winner of the 3 vs. 6 round which looks like it could be Jacksonville (or KC) vs. Ravens or Pitt. So let NE face the likely winner probably Pitt or BALT.
