The Wayne Chrebet comparison is soo off. Samarzija has 7 inches plus .5 seconds on the 50 and is just a sensational athlete. He could be Chrebet, but with Moss type athleticism. Theres a reason he is able to go pro in multiple sports. I think you are saying hes an overachiever because you think that because he is white-he cant be athletic, and it must be a fluke. But thats just not true in this case. He has more talent and works harder and plays with more heart than i believe any other college WR. And by the way-this is coming from a MICHIGAN fan. Thats how much respect i have for the guy.

I agree with MikeSLTJ23, I bet Rhema McKnight does emerge as the #1 WR for the Irish this year, mainly because I think it's foolish for Samardzija to be playing baseball at the same time. McKnight will be healthy, and he knows what it's like to be looked at as the #1.

Insanity- He can play both, but the max baseball salary he can make is 25 thousand dollars.

As for Samardzija's potential, if he focuses on football, I'd say that he can put together a career similar too, but more season-season productive than Ed McCaffrey's. He's got good speed, runs great routes, great hands, and is smart, I'd also say that he's built better than people give him credit for, though he could add some weight. He doesn't have the upside of Rice, CJ, or Jarrett, but I'd feel as comfortable saying he'll be a success in the NFL as any of them.

  4. The wayne Chrebet comparission shouldn't be considered a negative thing, and frankly it has nothing to do w/ him being white. He has a habit of coming up big on 3rd down and really does a great job at finding seams in the zones. THAT'S where the Chrebet inference comes from. And I also added that he is a more physically gifted Wayne Chrebet..meaning more athleticism and better size.

Why are you focusing on Wide Recievers next year?

Adrian Peterson/HB/Oklahoma = New York Jets

    Or

Marshawn Lynch/HB/California = New York Jets

i wouldnt have agreed before, but hes not enough of an athlete to warrant a 1st rd pick without being fully dedicated to Football.

theres plenty of other wideouts we could look at. as listed in this thread.

Exactly...that's basically what I was saying. The only receiver who I said he is definitely better than was Breaston, and that's mostly because he's pure garbage. My mistake, I thought you were trying to say that Breaston was a better receiver than Samardzija. In no way do I think of Samardzija as an amazing talent. I like the kid, but I'm going to need another year before I can actually believe that last year wasn't a gross overachievement.

Kellen Clemens to Calvin Johnson. Tell me that wouldn't be music to your ears.

From what I've seen thus far, Johnson seems to be the best of the bunch. He could be a huge player in the NFL.

  10. like I said Calvin Johnson is the best pure WR in this class. He's along the lines of a Steve Smith(w/ better size). Great speed and route running ability w/ a flare for the dramatic.

I'm not sure if he will be the first wide reciever chosen as he's pretty much a "what you see is what you get" kind of guy. That doesn't mean he won't be a top WR on the next level, b/c he will. But guys like Dwayne Jarret and Rice from South Carolina are physical freaks that will intrigue many scouts w/ their potential upside.

I would not draft him in round 1 but would support drafting him because he is big and knows how to fight for the ball, and he catches everything.
