Absolutely nothing! Believe me, I'm lovin' it, but it's the very subtle inference by the likes of Fatcessa & others like him, that we are frauds and don't belong amongst the "elite" that I make my point in this thread. It doesn't really bother me, I just thought it was worth discussing while we wait for our chance to lay the hammer on the #1 seed.
I think it comes down to the amount of wins you pull out of your ass. Make 1 or two and its playing great and Will to win. But do more than that and they start to call you lucky. We just need a couple of wins by more than a TD and they will shut up.
We always hear "the Jets were lucky to beat the Browns and Lions" for why the Jets "aren't elite" fun fact, only one other team in the NFL has played both Detroit and Cleveland and that's our good friends the Patriots, who were down half way through the third to the Lions and got smacked around by Cleveland. Strange how winning both games is a negative but winning only one goes unmentioned
every team, in each and every season needs a little bit of luck at some time. this isn't news. the only people its bothering, is you the concerned fan. as one of hte pats fans mentioned in the last week, Tuck Rule?!!? yeah that's some pretty lucky shit right there. the difference? no its not the jets or the pats... its the winning. the jets have a strong team, have been putting up strong wins in the past 2 seasons, and are now able to go in any stadium and beat teams. another season like this and the "lucky" talk goes away bc its commonplace to expect a strong team to come out with a last second victory. just so happens that we've had only a few good seasons, and not enough to be considered elite in the nfl, in which teams get the benefit of the doubt from the media. but with hte direction we're heading that is coming. last year and this year were waking up periods, for lack of a better term... in which the league is taking notice.
I think that's the point the OP is making. Our wins are called "getting lucky" while other teams wins are called "what a great play by Troy to win the game". Either they are all lucky, or neither one is lucky. Oh, n Shitsburgh are great, not lucky, when they made that huge play on Steve Johnson last week. Just before the ball reached Johnson in the EZ in OT, the whole team prayed that he drops it. He did. What a great effort of praying that was... See how easy it is to call the Jets a lucky team while others play great? I am with the OP. I bet you the analysts are sucking on Shitsburghs ***** right now, while calling us lucky. How about calling us the team that knows how to finish games, and a team that will win most of its one posession games? Thats the kind of team that will succeed in the playoffs. Our team has shit loads of talent. Just like Rodney said the other day that we are a top 3 team while not even playing at our talent level. I rephrased that, but its a huge compliment coming from an ex Anti-Jets player. Favre's pick 6 in wk 5 was luck. He hasn't thrown a pick since. The pass interference on Santonio in Denver was luck. Defensive PIs are a rarity in the game. Dual possession being ruled in defense's favor is common. Santonio's play against the Lions was a fluke. He is not an elite receiver. Santonio's TD against the Browns was pure luck cuz Santonio is not known for making plays. Houston had a great drive for a TD. Sanchez got lucky with a deep pass to Braylon and again, the Santonio's TD, who is not known for huge plays. Brad Smith is not explosive in the open field. Jets got lucky with their blockings. **Brady looked unusually off today. He wins that battle 99 times out of a 100. Today was that rare occasion. Jets D was average, but Brady made them look above average with his over thrown ints, strip sacks, and knockdowns.
