technically we're not. because if the colts beat the jaguars, they'd both be 7-6 (i dont know if they play next week, but im just saying). we have to win 1 more game to clinch playoffs. the raiders and dolphins also apply because they're 6-6 and if they win out and we lose out, they'd be in. not happening but its not "cliched"
Yea we are in the playoffs. Barring a tie between the Jaguars/Colts and Chargers/Chiefs and us losing out and them winning out.
We've essentially clinched the playoffs. Even if we have an 08 like finish we'll probably still hold enough in the way of tiebreakers to qualify. This is all moot tho since we're gonna stomp the Pats tomorrow. *waits for RUSH to chime in with his brilliant opinion"
Alright let me figure this out, for us NOT to make the playoffs this is what has to happen: -Jets lose out -Chargers beat Chiefs -Colts beat Jaguars -Jaguars win all games but Colts game -Colts win out -Chargers win out -Chiefs win all games but Chargers game If one of those goes wrong we are in the playoffs. *I think*
Soxx, enough already. You are assuming the Jets lose out right? What a waste of time. If, God forbid, that happens, the Jets will be one and done in the playoffs.
I f the fins raiders win out and we only they end up 10 and 6 we would need to loose out but I do not see that happening but the post season for JETS is tomorrow realistically I see us going 3 and 2 with a break maybe 4 and 1
did you want to be a playoff team with this heavily loaded group; or did you want to make a super bowl run. Playoffs means jack shit. it was a given from the first whistle this year.
none of these scenarios matter. we win tomorrow and we're in. we want homefield btw jacksonville plays oakland, so one of those teams will have another loss. i guess that changes the landscape a bit.
The Jets haven't even played a December game yet and they are close to clinching at least a playoff berth. This is a position that the Jets have rarely been in.
Clinching Scenarios Case 1 Jets beat the Patriots, and Titans beat the Colts Case 2 Jets beat the Patriots, and Raiders beat the Jaguars Case 3 Jets beat the Patriots, and Jets beat the Dolphins Case 4 Jets beat the Dolphins, and Titans beat the Colts, and Chiefs beat the Chargers Case 5 Jets beat the Dolphins, and Raiders beat the Jaguars, and Chiefs beat the Chargers
It will be nice if going into Soldier field to play the Bears in late December isn't a 'must-win' game...
If we lost tommorrow wed probably end up playing @ indy for the wild card (which is a REALLY shitty wildcard matchup) Not exactly a favorable matchup since wed have to win @ indy, @ Baltimore/Pitt then @ NE. Sounds like a really fucking tough road to the superbowl Then again the Ravens/Steelers have tough schedules and the Colts look like shit. So we could also end up playing @ KC, @ Jags, then having a home game vs the AFC north wildcard team in the AFC championship. Which could actually end up being an easier road to the superbowl than if we got the #1 or#2 seed and ended up having to play NE @ Jets week 1 of the playoffs, then an NFC North team week 2. Things can change WAY too much right now, but I think its safe to say the Jets are a lock to make the playoffs.
Why would we have to play the Colts? The Jaguars are a better team and is more likely to win the division. The colts are really bad...
If the Colts win their divison they could end up the #4 seed. Which means Jets @ Colts wildcard weekend. Its not like the Jags have a huge lead on the Colts. They play H2H which means if the Colts win, and the Jags are known for their epic collapses and terrible secondary. Would you honestly be shocked if the Colts won that division ?
