I'll reply to that (after I'm finished wiping off the drool): Unless you get pressure on Brady, which you guys have struggled with lately, he will pick apart your 8 in the box. Also I feel that we can keep revis busy if we really want that to be our game plan.
I don't think you expect Revis to be able to cover multiple guys at the same time. Brady is best at looking into coverage and getting it to is first, second or third option if coverage dictates it. I think with a lot of guys that run very good, shifty routes will make it harder for coverage CBs to be effective. I'm not saying he Revis will be ineffective. You haven't really proved anything by talking about Revis being dragged into zone coverage.
2nd half passer rating without Revis up close... 16.9. Good luck PS.. You're not getting 8 in the box. You're getting 9 or 10, because you have no deep threat. (3DL..4LB..1cb..1 maybe 2 Safety)
You have proven nothing. I'm willing to discuss things with you if you give me evidence of Revis' effectiveness in zone vs. man. I don't think that is too much to ask. But just saying off the cuff that Revis will be more effective in zone and take away multiple options doesn't mean much to me.
Something to consider Randy Moss often forced Brady to hold onto the ball for 4 + seconds. His routes prevented him from being a valuable asset on every pass play. With Moss, Maroney, Faulk gone, and Woodhead added, it took a few games to install the updated offense that the Patriots are running now. Now, every WR, TE and RB have to be accounted for by a defense. This isn't the week 2 Patriots, so beware. And believe me, Rex Ryan knows who Rob Gronkowski is.
Thats what I've been saying. Apparently the idea that the Patriots have many more weapons in the gameplan now than week 2 is a weakness.
Because you don't watch Jets games. Revis is extraordinarily good at peeling off one guy to take out another in zone coverage... He isn't used that way much because he's usually shutting out the best receivers in the game. Moss, Megatron, TO,Ocho,AJ... In the instances that the cs puts him on other coverage...he routinely makes plays against a guy he's not covering at the snap. At the end of the day he is (and so is Cro) a better defender, than any two guys you have running out to catch it. That's not ball busting...that's Cold Hard Football Fact.
"Any year that he had moss" amounts to two years. They are also the same two years he had Welker, which I would argue has been the bigger factor in that equation. I understand that we still have welker, so that doesn't answer your question, but I don't think that it is really worth reading into so much. To be fair, it's not like brady was about to repeat his 2007 season with or without moss. I'm not saying that I have all the answers as to why the stats are the way they are, but also consider we have faced 5 top 10 defenses in our 11 games.
Forced...What are you going 80 yards on every play to Moss ? He runs the 40 in 4.4 seconds..which means from inside the 50....it's 5 steps and heave it.
I have watched almost every Jets game this season. I live in NYC right now so I get all the games and because the Jets are of interest to the Patriots I get to watch a lot. I'll admit I am not paying full attention to the game when its on in the background. I was just under the impression that Revis excelled as a man CB, taking away the big threat. I know he is a very well-rounded CB and can play good zone coverage but I just think the quick routes the patriots run now, getting rid of the ball quickly will allow brady to get the ball to his receivers quickly without the receivers having to have a step on the guy.
You are on here telling us he's going to complete more passes because Moss is gone. The facts show us he's completed fewer passes without Moss whether you look at his percentage this year pre/post most, this year post moss vs. the other 2 years he played with Moss, or any other year of his career vs. Moss years. If it has more to do with Welker than why has the percentage gone down with the loss of Moss and Welker is still there? There is no evidence to support your argument that not having Moss is going to increase completion percentage.
HAHA- The Jets pressured the shit out of Brady in week 2, with the loss of Neal and with the gain of Pace and Pryce you can expect to see much more of that. Brady had 3 turnovers that day for a reason. Patsy fans are a delusional forgetful bunch.
And lost to the one you face on Monday. With a Injured Revis. NO Calvin Pace. and No Santonio Holmes. And now you've forced the Jets best defensive player into close up zone coverage.... But yes...now it's more of a mismatch in your favor.
A given....Revis will have to peel off Welker to defend a three yard screen to Woodhead. I'm your friend and I'm telling you, I don't think your clients belong in jail .... Please tell me their lawyer hasn't pinned their hopes to a phone bill
I can't argue with that fuzzy math He runs the 40 in 4.4 seconds Oh sure he does:wink: It takes Moss 4.4 seconds to get out of the hole. (If you've water skied) Regardless, I don't agree with your math.
Brady's stats overall are the second best in his career, only behind a record demolishing 2007 year, and he has played 7 of 11 games without moss, 4 against top 10 defenses. If the completion percentage statistics don't happen to agree with that, so be it. You can replace all of those things that I said with the words "more effective", "less-errant", or "just plain fucking better" and I still stand by them. The brady to moss connection just plain wasn't working as it has in the past, and now Brady is on his way to an MVP season without Moss. If you don't think that brady can perform better than he did week two, that is fine. I'm not going to spend all day arguing over brady's completion percentage, which is currently 3rd in the league and 2nd best in his illustrious career.
