Earlier in the week they said Cromartie was returning punts. Wilson scares the fuck out of me and so does McKnight. edit: I'd rather it be Cro and Lowery than either of the other two.
Yeah, sounds really bad. I think losing Jim is a terrible loss vs. Brady. He can pick a part the secondary. We had signal issues with Jim, without him could be rough.
If Rex is already saying break it sounds like it's a compound like what Leon had.... Safety may have just jumped to priority #1 on draft board.
damn, this sucks! our secondary was already having communication issues can lowery please get some love at safety?!?!
Yeah Wilson scares me too. It seems like they were using Leonhard as the "safe" returner.. and when they felt they had a chance for a big return they put Wilson back there. Maybe they'll continue that with Cromartie or McKnight returning when they have a chance for a return, and Cotchery as the "safe" returner.
Damn...hard news to take. This could be the deciding factor in the game, especially against a team like the Patriots.
holmes is the best punt returner on the roster ... i remember him completely changing games (plural, including a playoff game) for the steelers when they would let him return punts

HAHAHAHAHAHA. Awesome. Well, he doesn't hate all contact. Yeah in a secondary where there was already a certain amount of confusion this is exactly what we don't need.
Just reading a Pats forum to see what pulse for the game is and came across Leonard story. Was really hoping this was not true. Big blow for the Jets. Eric Smith has got to step up.
http://blog.newyorkjets.com/2010/12/03/leonhard-suffers-severe-shin-injury–out-for-pats/ Tough injury news for the Green & White has come out of today’s practice at the Atlantic Health Jets Training Center. Starting safety and punt returner Jim Leonhard was carted off the outside grass field with what head coach Rex Ryan described at this afternoon’s news conference as “a severe shin injury.” Ryan said Leonhard will miss Monday night’s AFC East showdown at New England against the Patriots and doesn’t know yet how much longer Leonhard might miss. That will end Leonhard’s 58-game playing streak for the Jets, Ravens and Bills, including six playoff appearances. “It’s going to be tough to replace Jim but we’re fortunate,” said Ryan. “We have a lot of talent. Next mnan who steps up we expect him to stay at the same level. Don’t feel sorry for us. We’re fine. Obviously this is a huge blow for our football team but we’re tough.” More here shortly.
Harris took over for Leonhard last year as the signal caller when Jim had a broken thumb since he didn't play every down, so at least we have some experience in dealing with this. I'm more worried about communication errors than Leonhard's actual play on the field.
