It amazes me even more how there are about 2-3 good commentators in the sports business, and the rest blow.

That maybe true, but if put in that situation, kicking a game winner will be even more stressful knowing they will cut you at the drop of a hat. Kickers are head cases, you don't want to put unnecessary pressure on them.

To be honest I don't think it matters which kicker we have. We saw Nate Kaeding completely choke it up last year and he was one of the best. Then the Bengals kicker. Then our very own Feeley.

It doesn't matter. I'm fine with Folk.

Jeff Reed by all accounts was very disliked by his teammates back in PIT and also had a decline in leg strength. Struggles in between 45+ now and isn't a surefire shot at 45-40 now. No idea how his kickoff strength is but if he is having troubles with long kicks, then I don't think its good.

If worse comes to worse, grab Matt Stover for short kicks and have Folk go for long kicks/kickoffs. Stover is money from 40 or under, but he just doesn't have the leg strength anymore to kick well from 40+. Don't know if the Jets would use a roster spot on a kicker but Stover is very good at those short kicks.

I'd stick with Folk though..................best bet. With him, its all about confidence. When he is riding high and well, he is about as good as they come. He can kick balls deep, nails 50+ yarders. However, much like when his demise came in Dallas.....when he stinks, he really, really stinks. Its a mental game with Nick. Gotta get him righted.

I'd be perfectly fine with the Jets sticking with Folk. The only other kicker I think they should even consider bringing in here is Reed. The guy has had very good years with FG% and is obviously used to kicking under pressure situations and bad weather. I'm not sure what exactly happened with him this year, but he should be the only one the Jets even consider bringing in to replace N. Folk. If not, I say ride it out.

Whatever we do, I trust Westhoff to make the right decision.

Good god this is switching Hoover for an electrolux, in the end they both suck.

Keep Folk, none of those mountains of shit should be anywhere near the Jets.

    Ugh. This fucking guy?!

Insert obvious New Jersey Jets joke.

If we're going with "drunk douchebag" for placekicking, I'll take this guy:

Jeff Reed has been worse than Folk this year, he's horribly out of shape, and from the looks of it, a grade A douche.

I can understanding giving Reed a look but he was cut for a reason. If we're going to give one of these kickers a chance to redeem himself, do we really think it should be this guy:

I say better the devil you know, or something along those lines.

We should sign Jeff Reed. Fighting with a paper towel dispenser in a gas station bathroom is right up there with a kicker running down the field to make a ST tackle.

Bottom line is that Folk was the best kicker in the league through the first 8 games, so whoever we add will have been playing worse than he has, or not playing at all. It's up to the coaches to fix whatever Folk isn't doing right, not to quit on him for another unknown.

Folk is perfect in dome games this year and we don't have any more on the schedule.

It sucks that the one time we made a title game we were restricted w/ regards to FA, if that wasn't the case feely would still be here and we'd have no worries about our K.

The Chargers lost to the Jets in the playoffs because of missed field goals, and who is kicking for the Chargers now? Right, Nate Kaeding...

Don't overreact. Some of those misses where pretty tough FG's as well. Folk will be fine.

Nate kaeding was a major factor in sending the Chargers home THREE times in the playoffs, he should have been gone after hs meltdown against us last year. Some guys can kick under pressure and some cannot, kaeding has proven he cannot.
