You gotta admit, this isn't the same team from the beginning of the year.

You could say that about 90% of the teams in the league.

    lol

Yeah, I know. Pisses me off when I hear that about the Pats.

The Jets were ground and pound in week two.

We dont have the same offense from week 2.

Week 2 was before the era of Santonio began.

We are not a run first team anymore. Sure we still run the ball like hell, but when you got Santonio and Braylon being simply dominant, LT being FARRRR more effective on short passes than he is running, and Greene the Fumbling Machine this offense just aint the same.

Woodhead coulda had him Xerox the whole damn book, and it wouldnt do them any good.

Signing was full of win for the Pats on so many levels.

They caught lightening in a bottle with this guy and they know it.
On a psychological level they know that giving Danny a bit of job security after performing well for us (yet still being cut) can only bolster his on field performance and allegiance to the Pats organization..

From a financial POV it is just the right length as the biggest fear with this guy is that he is a career ending injury waiting to happen.

Trouble is no one can say for sure when and/or if that will actually happen.

So appease the kid with a short extension, get his mind off his immediate future, and give him so time and room to cash in the chips on those broad shoulders his tiny frame is carrying around.

    Masterfully played by the Pats...

I wish we could have kept him.

PS they do this the week before the Jets vs Pats showdown?
    Fucking Genius.....

I need something intelligent to reply too. Your certainly not expecting a ton ball slurping on your part to inspire intelligent responses are you?

but does this brilliantly insightful statement qualify as such:
really? nobody can say for certain if or when an injury is going to occur? I was certain there were people among us that can see into the future. are you telling me Ms. Cleo doesn't know?

    They

I have to spell that out for you? Really? I am specifically talking about his stature here and the willingness of any front office to take a gamble on that.

By being proactive and signing him now they avoid a situation where he could amass a body of work and ask for more years and more money.

By signing a short term deal they hedge their bets against this little guy seriously getting his clock cleaned. If he survives the next two years they deal with it then.

By signing him this week (of all weeks) they give him a shot of adrenaline against us next week.

What am I missing? Why all the venomous responses?

I’m not too worried about Woodhead becoming the x factor in this game, but in my opinion this was a terrible loss. I’d rather just let McKnight walk and kept Woodhead. Honestly it great to see McKnight find himself a place on the special teams (sarcasm); While Woodhead will contribute on another team and is very dangerous.
I don’t think anyone can say "this will be McKnight’s moment”, but rest assured we will see Woodhead in some off balanced back field where he can gash us. Our rush is always over running the play and this little bastard is just fast enough to hurt us.

You realize the McKnight move was a long term decision right? Woodhead wasn't seeing the field for us this year. That's why we kept the guy who's supposed to have a higher ceiling.

I do understand Woodhead has been around a couple of years and hasnt blown anyones socks off, but I personally do not like the move.
