At this point I believe our offensive problems come from not playing to our real strengths. Mark Sanchez is grown up. He still has some accuracy issues and won't throw the ball away but the accuracy issues seem to go away at crunch time and it's hard to fault a guy for competitive spirit on each and every play. These are also things that he will continue to improve on. We are now built to be a passing team with a strong supportive running game. We should be passing 55-60% of plays. Rex needs to be as aggressive with playing to the strength of his offensive players as he is to his defensive players. Get off what we want to be and be what we are.
3 offensively generated points in the last 2 home games is not successful. H*ll with yards. Second and long runs are not successful as a regular strategy. How many drives have we successfully sustained in the last 5 games? We are finding ways to win and that is the most important thing but we do not have a successful offense outside of our two minute offense period.
lol... I heard the 5th quarter show on my way home from the game and they mentioned an interview with Braylon where he stated that the public is misconstruing the idea of "ground and pound".. The team (as per Braylon) grinds down defenses and the Jets D pounds on the opposing offense... Seriously paraphrased as Buttle was just giving his paraphrase.....
Sorry I wasn't counting the end around - thats 10 points. O for Green Bay, FG and end around from Smith is 10. The other 16 were special teams and safety generated. I hope the offense shuts me up against the Patriots but we have certainly not been an offensive powerhouse against some poor defenses.
It seems like every time we start running the ball well, we come out for the next play in the shotgun spread out. You'd think Shotty would try more play actions off a few successful runs in a row, but no. Unlike last year, we have enough talent across the whole offense that we can either pass or run, depending on the situation. A good coordinator would tailor the game plan each weak to exploit the other team's weaknesses, but Shotty doesn't believe in that apparently.
Sanchez accounted for three scores against Houston and he also threw another one to Holmes last night. You shouldn't need to the offense to shut you up. Your stupidity should be the reason for that.
Come on Mr. E. His logic is completely sound. He is only counting the last 2 home games that counted. We all know the Houston game was a throw-away. Also, he is using our home performance to predict how we play the Patriots next week. That game is at the Meadowlands, you know.
Is Cimini from Ohio? "Not counting the offensive touchdowns the Jets have scored, the Jets have scored no offensive touchdowns."
Stupidity obviously doesn't have an effect. Look at your post number versus mine. My reasoning, look up the word if you need to, is that being shut down at home is an especially bad thing for an offense. The Houston game makes the point of my thread if you are able to follow a thought process.
No reason why we can't be a "ground and pound" team. We simply have the ability to be more balanced than before, but we still have a dominant run game.
