Was watching 'Sound FX' on Thursday's game and Ocho Cinco was asking T.O. if Brad Smith looks slow when he runs, with a perplexed look. This was after the return for touchdown. I've always thought that. I know this is nothing new for us. He is deceptively fast and is hard to bring down. Long and lanky like a deer. He takes a few strides and he's already 7 yards past you. On the options you think he gonna get tackled and yet he slides on through. Clutch is a proper name for him. But he is becoming a game changer. Marvin Lewis in his headphones was like 'This is the QB right? He's a QB right?' Sorry for the gushing, this is the appreciation thread. I've always liked this kid and I'm glad management kept him around. It's about time the ownership hired people who can properly evaluate talent.
he said its like he wasn't moving out htere (or something very similar). i think its his style of running. he's not over aggressive, he's very fluid, and he patiently waits for his blocks. i don't htink ocho was trying to be insulting... btu that's my take on it.
The way he runs reminds me of Carlos Beltran. It doesnt really look like they are working hard but they have such a fluid motion they are deceptively fast.
That's funny, I was saying something similar to my Dad as we watched the KR. It's like he's in slomo, he must use his eyes as a weapon and like you said quick decisive moves that look flawless.
He's been a very good player since he was just a gunner on S/T Whoever doesn't appreciate him by now is a douchebag..... or a fan of another AFC team :jets:
I wouldn't be surprised if someone comes in this offseason and blows him away with an offer knowing the Jets won't be able to match it. That would really suck a lot.
I think he uses his deceptive speed to his advantage. The defense doesn't think he's running that fast and take poor angles, and then he flies right by them
The man can play ball. Mike T has his work cut out for him keeping all these players. Brad Smith is, IMO, too important to let go. He fills 3 positions with one roster spot. You gotta keep a guy like that.
