Dilfer on Sportscenter's top 5 current AFC QB's 1. Rivers 2. Brady 3. Manning 4. Sanchez 5. Roethlisberger He says Sanchez will be the next NFL's elite QB.
Dilfer has a huge hard on for Sanchez, I hope he's right, fortunately he's one of the few analysts I like and feel has a lot of football knowledge and a very unbiased opinion. Sanchez will be a beast.
Never in my life would I have expected Mark Fuckin' Sanchez to be directly behind Peyton Manning in quarterback rankings.
I love how Sanchez is developing. Its crazy that we are potentially going to have this great of a qb for the next 15+ years.
sanchez plays at a high ass level, but is very spotty. he needs to keep his level the same for an entire game. at points you see outstanding throws, decision making, and then the next possession he looks like a fucking clown.
To be fair look at the other QBs on that list WRs. Rivers is playing with #4 and #5 wrs, Brady lost his #1, Peyton lost 2 WRs and his #1 TE, Big Ben Lost his #1 and his #2 to a concussion.
Ahead of Big Ben right now is a bit pie-in-the-sky. Sanchez has won a few games in a row with big plays late in games. Roethlisberger has been doing that for years. I know everybody has decided they dislike him personally, but Roethlisberger is still a phenomenal football player. And while I share in the widespread perception that Sanchez could be one of the great ones in the next decade, I think pretty soon people are going to start to realize we already have the next Peyton Manning in the NFL, and his name is Matt Ryan. Thank God the Dolphins picked Jake Long.
He was talking about this year only. I have been sitting in my house all day trying to write my thesis but mostly just posting on TGG and watching t.v. so I saw this clip a few different times. He basically said he knew that ranking would make people mad but that there was no way to objectively look at this season and not put Sanchez on the list. He specifically cited the fact that Sanchez plays his best when it matters most and that is the sign of a great QB. As was already stated he believes Sanchez is leading the next generation after Ben and Rivers generation of QB's.
Nice to see Sanchez getting noticed. Even if it's by someone who knows nothing about the QB position!
^^^^This^^^^ It isn't body of work, it was just based off the 10 games this year. He isn't saying he is better than a 2 time SB winner, career wise. That would be folly.
Yeah, this analysis occurs in a vacuum; obviously, he's not trying to compare Sanchez's career to the other QBs' careers on this list. While I think the ranking is a bit high, I'd put Sanchez in the 5-8 range this season, right now. However, I also do feel it's a tough comparison because Sanchez has much more talent around him than those other guys do; on the flipside, he's also vastly inexperienced (in the NFL and in age) compared to those other guys, so the fact that he's playing at such a high level means he deserves some kudos. As long as he continues to progress, I believe he'll reach the point (in a couple of seasons from now) where he too will be able to make #3-5 WRs look like starters, just live Rivers, Manning, and Brady do.
I was looking at it in the perspective that if you had to win one football game, which QB would you take right now?
He didn't look very good last night but you are correct. Sanchez btw can throw a better deep ball than Orton.
