Sanchez just said on post-game that Westhoff, Rex were cognizant of the play. They knew what would happen if Sanchez gets the int there.
DBs are all about speed and athleticism. There's very little thinking involved. It's not at all surprising.
hmmmmm, with what Sanchez just said in the presser I don't think it was designed that way but it was an aspect they discussed.
Certainly wasn't designed but it seemed like he wanted to go deep from the get-go, get his guy a chance to bring it down for a TD or close to it. But it served the Jets well because Haden didn't bat it down, he went for stats and caught it.
Yeah, he said it was a good call and either way we would be 1+Goal or they would be pinned down there. Even the announcers mentioned the Browns would have been better off to drop it.
After what happened in the Texans/Jags game, where the DB knocked the ball down right into the WR's hands, there may be a change in that theory, i.e. intercept when you can.
Funny, I was going to post that this was the best INT of Sanchez's career. In that situation, it was a great move to throw it up for grabs and hope that Braylon makes the play or draws a PI. The fact that it ended up an INT was harmless. Probably better than Weatherford could have done punting the ball. It's arguable that the Browns having that shitty field position and going 3 and out was what won us the game.
Its not terrible I doubt he meant to throw an INT, though Im not sure how I feel with a QB who has that kind of mindset. I mean yeah he isnt going to think like that on every play. I'd have rather he just lead him a little more.
yeah, I'm sure the Jets were thinking instead of scoring a TD and winning the game, lets throw an INT, pin them deep, hope to get the ball back, and then try and win the game. makes perfect sense to a bell pepper.
It was 3rd and long, in typical touchback area. I'm sure it was look for the 1st if not just heave it to Braylon.
I'm sure they weren't terribly concerned if it did get intercepted, but that is a far cry from saying it was deliberately under thrown to get the interception, and thus not thrown so the Jets could possibly make the reception and win the game and were deliberately trying not to succeed.
yeah it wasn't deliberate, but it was one of those things the CS went over. "Hey kid, if you have the shot, take it. If it gets picked they have to go the distance. You can take chances here if its there. Go get it" There's nothing deliberate there, its simply covering all the angles.
