http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/10313/1101965-66.stm?cmpid=steelers.xml IMO this is pretty big news flying under the radar here ...
wow thats huge news and a big blow to that team. imagine playing half the season without either of your starting tackles. they were lucky to pick up flozell in the offseason although he isnt great he is a serviceable tackle.
I don't know much about other teams offensive lines but that has to be a big loss. I would fear for Sanchez' life if Brick went down.
Starks isn't anything Special, if they move Flozell Adams back to LT and Plug in someone at RT, they should be fine.
Flozell has been awful at LT for a couple of years, that's why he's now on a different team playing RT.
It's been a while since the Steelers have had a good line. But now that they've actually re-committed themselves to running the ball this is a pretty big loss for them.
You're both spot on. Ben doesn't need a line, but the Steelers need a line in order to run the ball. This is a little malicious, but when Starks and Pouncey both went down Monday, I started licking my chops. "Steeler football" is predicated on the ability to win the battle of the big nasties. If we're playing this team without Aaron Smith and Max Starks, we can take them out of their game.
Starks is a huge loss for my favorite team, just like Aaron Smith. We're fast running out of healthy bodies on the offensive line. It may not matter with Ben and the passing game as we've been used to it for a while, but you can see Mendenhall's stats slowly going down as the injuries are piling up.
The steelers have started getting banged up, this might be big big news down the stretch, especially if flozell is starting LT and they have to bring in a guy off the street to play RT....
