So maybe our 1st and 2nd round picks will see some time this week. That's nice depth to be able to plug in early round picks when someone gets injured if you ask me.
I don't know how much water this holds but it's going to be tough for anyone on our line to even consider sitting out when they look over and see Mangold. I don't know how his shoulder is doing but it can't be 100% plus I have seen him suffer what looked like multiple season ending injuries only to come back on the field 5 minutes later.
Happy to see some Turner love... every time he stepped on the field he looked good imo. Too bad it's his contract year and he'll probably go and start somewhere else... but I think he's a very good backup G.
He played like a champ when he had to replace Mangold. Couldn't even tell the difference... of course it was a small sample but he is at least an average lineman in the NFL.
He's fine- "TheJetsStream Manish Mehta #Jets Slauson said MRI on right knee came back clean: "I'll be fine." #nfl #nyj"
I love Woody as a leader on our OL... but for age/contract reasons I hope next year either Hunter or Ducasse is our starter at RT. I think Hunter would be the starter with Ducasse assuming Hunter's old 6th OL role (which in the Jets is an important role).
What's sad and great at the same time is that a lot of former backups are now starters. Jonathan Goodwin and Wade Smith are both starting in the NFL. When Wade Smith was released I wasn't happy. I knew how good he was. He'd be starting at LG right now. Turner has to be kept. Having that 6th OLmen is very important. The dude stepped in for Mangold for an entire drive and no one seemed to notice because he did that good of a job. The dude is fucking mean too, in the best way possible. Pure Rex Ryan type of player.
Our backups are pretty great on the line. Turner can play both guard positions as well as center which is extremely helpful.
I agree entirely... the problem is he's in his contract year (his agent are B&S by the way) and he understands he won't get the chance to start anytime soon here. Actually maybe he's a RFA... not sure... That said he's our backup C & LG + he sees the field in those heavy formations and on ST (where he does a good job). He must be kept. Too bad the league knows backup guys on the Jets have been well schooled by Callahan and can be valuable addictions.
