any other Gang greener''s going to this game flying in to Motown on Saturday and returning Monday GONNA BE FUN
Jets v Lions Jet Fans I have lived in the Detroit area since 1991 but still love my Jets. The Fox Town area where Ford Field resides is very nice.. The Greektown Casino is in walking distance. The MGM Grand and Motor City Casino's are a 5 minute drive from the stadium. Some areas of D-Town are awful but not where the game is. Two good places to tailgate. Eastern Market is the largest. It is a 10 minute walk but is a large tailgate area. There are open lots off of Gratiot and Beaubien that are also nice and closer to the ballpark. Let me know where we can share a brew. Check out detroittailgate.comfor some good info.
My wife and I are going! Front row seats on the Jets side about the 15 yard line. Looking for anyone else to tailgate with. Were from Iowa, going to the Iowa/Indiana game on saturday and then staying in Elkhart overnight. Not staying anywhere close to Detroit. If anyone knows a good spot for tailgating, look me up or call me when you get there. 319-270-6880
from what I've heard from others and read, the area around the stadium and the areas where the major hotels are located are not a problem at all. Many yahoos say exactly what you just posted about the city that I live in, too. And that city is the greatest city in the world, the Big Apple
NYC is a world class city, Detroit is the poster child for urban blight. No comparison. Yes, the area immediately around the stadium has been redeveloped. But that's it. The other redeveloped / unblighted neighborhoods are mostly on the outskirts of the city. The rest of the city proper is in very bad shape. I go to at least one away game a year, and I'd never pick Detroit as a destination. But in fairness I haven't been there since 2003, perhaps it's gotten better.
C'MON, everyone... let's pick a bar near the stadium for Jets fans to flock to before the game! Any suggestions?
