Who is the Best team right now? We see the Jets lose to Greenbay, We see the Steelers lose to the Saints, We see the Titians get beat by the Chargers. Those were my Highest Ranked teams going into the week. I hate to say it, but is New England the best team going right now? The Raiders are rolling right now (Yea I Said it) and The Cheifs are as well, But I cant consider them the Best teams. Maybe the Giants? This Year is full of Question Marks! Now I know that a loss does not make you a "Bad" team, but this year, any team can beat.... any team. No One Team stands out above the rest.
I think this question will be settled during the playoffs. The Saints looked really good last night and they are the defending champions. Are they the best? I think they were yesterday. Next week it will probably be another team.
The Jets get to play the Patriots again. If both teams do equally well in their remaining games and the Jets beat them again we have all of the tie breakers. I would worry more about who gets into the playoffs than best team right now. A very good team in the AFC East and / or AFC South will probably be watching the playoffs at home. As long as we aren't that team I am happy.
This isn't the BCS, so obviously who is "ranked" #1 couldn't be less important. Having said that, if people want to give a ranking I can't see any way that it isn't New England for the moment. They have only one blemish on their record (the loss to the Jets), and after the past few games I don't see much of an argument that the Jets are the best team in the league right now.
does it really matter? the jets could beat 2 mediocre to bad teams the next 2 weeks and would probably noticed as the best team. just make the playoffs as we found out last season. of course you want home field(do WE really want it? lol) and a bye(do we want that too? lol).
Wow, You people must be really ignorant. Im pretty sure to make the playoffs, you have to have a winning record, as well as be one of the best teams.
Cakes, Jeff, someone: when was the last time teams had this much parity? Its remarkable how even the teams are this year.
Ah, but that's because some clever statistician has stratified the sample - the AFC is strong (or at least competitive) almost everywhere (other than Buffalo, Cleveland, Cincinnati, and Denver), while the NFC is weak. It's still early, however - Green Bay is looking better (as we know, unfortunately), and it might turn out that the Giants, Atlanta, and Tampa Bay are also pretty good. What I find more interesting is parity in the form of favorites losing - this has certainly been the worst year for favorites that I can remember.
1989 was a crazy year. Only one team in the AFC reached double digits in victories during the regular season. 10 of the 14 teams in that conference had either 7, 8, or 9 wins. Cincinnati finished in last place even though they outscored their opponents 404-285. AFC playoff teams Broncos 11-5 (Western Division champion) Browns 9-6-1 (Central Division champion) Bills 9-7 (Eastern Division champion) Oilers 9-7 (wild card) Steelers 9-7 (wild card) AFC also-rans Chiefs 8-7-1 Raiders 8-8 Colts 8-8 Dolphins 8-8 Bengals 8-8 Seahawks 7-9 Chargers 6-10 Patriots 5-11 Jets 4-12 NFC playoff teams 49ers 14-2 (Western Division champs) Giants 12-4 (Eastern Division champs) Vikings 10-6 (Central Division champs) Eagles 11-5 (wild card) Rams 11-5 (wild card) NFC also-rans Redskins 10-6 Packers 10-6 Saints 9-7 Lions 7-9 Bears 6-10 Buccaneers 5-11 Cardinals 5-11 Falcons 3-13 Cowboys 1-15
