i know you guys and probably our CS are dead-set against playing Clemens right away, and I can see why, but seriously if we are having open competition, and lets say he shows up in TC as the clear-cut winner of the competition (which could happen) we HAVE to play him regardless of him being a rookie. How can the coaches claim "open competition" and not really have "open competition." Ramsey isnt very good, Bollinger is average at best, and Pennington is certainly in an uphill battle with his shoulder, so if Clemens shows up as the best quarterback at camp and learns the offense, its in the best interest of the team to start the best player, who cares if its a rookie.

You would think that a poster with the user name BrowningNagle would understand why its not in the best interest of the team or player to rush a rookie QB into the starting lineup..

I really hope you all give Ramsey a chance. I'm a Skins fan, and I have to say he got the short end of the stick here. After taking a beating because Spurrier couldn't figure out how to draw up a blocking scheme, his next coach showed no confidence in him (despite what Gibbs said). Ramsey became my favorite Redskin quickly, based on the fact that he stood in the pocket even as he was getting pounded nearly every play.

If he can get a handle on the offense, and find some connection with the recievers, then he could do very well for you if Chad can't isn't playing at his potential. I watched the first round of the draft specifically to see what the Jets would do. I was glad to see they focused on the O-line, since in my mind Ramsey really just needed a little more protection.

Anyway, I will be following the Jets as a secondary team, at least for this season, and hope they have some success.

    Oh yeah....Thanks again for Santana.

It would be very tough for a rookie to come into his first NFL training camp and beat out QB's with as much experience as Chad and Ramsey. A rookie QB needs time to adjust to the NFL game and learn much more complicated offensive schemes. Reading defenses in college is nothing compared to doing it in the NFL. He's not going to learn overnight.

Kellen may be impressing the CS, he's not impressing the beat writers. Neither was Mike Nugent:

    http://www.nypost.com/sports/jets/curtis_carries_on_jets_lenn_robbins.htm

"QB Patrick Ramsey seemed frustrated in yesterday's morning practice after missing several open throws. . . . QB Kellen Clemens looked sharp until his final possession of the afternoon session when he threw consecutive interceptions. . . . DB Kerry Rhodes made the play of the day when he leaped high across the middle of the field to intercept a Ramsey post pass intended for WR Tim Dwight . . . PK Mike Nugent missed three of five field-goal attempts from 37 yards".

Are you honestly expecting perfection in June during the first day of minicamp? Go away already...
