No, I heard he liked SF because he has a former coach there, Baltimore for its location and defense, and Dallas for the team. Out of those, obviously SF and Dallas would have the best chance of landing him on waivers. He probably wants to play for Miami because of the high number of ethnic girls for him to beat up on.

Miami, Balt and Dallas were the teams he mentioned.

Believe it or not the Jets have an incredible medical staff that is noted around the league as being cutting edge. (the exception is the idiot that headed the first fallacious concussion study).

Anyway, my point is maybe they may be looking at Merriman. Merriman, did say in the offseason he would love to play for Rex Ryan. I am at work and can not find the link to that story. It is fact though the he was saying how great the possibilities would be in Rex's system.

Afterall, the reality is Merriman has declined since his injury, not because of the lack of steroids. ......

Edit: Merriman I think will be outright released not put on the waiver wire, making it rabbit season on him.

This has to be the top selling point on his list.

I keep forgetting about Merriman's negative relationship with Tequila and her relationship with Woody's daughter....... He most likely isn't in the cards for the Jets.....

What makes you think Kenwin was vacationing in the Bahamas? The guy isn't exactly raking it in.

Maybe not raking it in for an NFL player but he's doing more than well enough to take a vacation in Atlantis if that is what he was doing this week.

Like others have said, there's no need to panic about the ILB depth. They surely have something lined up or this move wouldn't have been made.

Is linebacker just the designated "we think he can play football we just don't fuckin know where" spot?

JetsBlog is reporting they are looking at a QB to sign. That, to me, is a head scratcher.

Jets Work Out QB Jonathan Crompton
By Steiny on Oct 22, 2010, 10:19 am

UPDATE: The Jets have announced that they have released LB Kenwin Cummings, possibly opening a roster spot for Crompton.

Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post is reporting that the Jets brought in QB Jonathan Crompton for a work out yesterday.

The New York Jets auditioned rookie quarterback Jonathan Crompton today, according to a league source with knowledge of the situation.

Crompton is a former San Diego Chargers draft pick who also worked out for the Houston Texans earlier this week.

Crompton was released by the Chargers earlier this year after signing a four-year deal with a total maximum value of $2.675 million

The former University of Tennessee starter visited the Seattle Seahawks, Chargers, Oakland Raiders and the Jacksonville Jaguars prior to the draft.

Last season, Crompton completed 58.3 percent of his throws for 2,800 yards, 27 touchdowns and 13 interceptions.

For his career with the Volunteers, Crompton passed for 4,187 yards, 36 touchdowns and 22 interceptions.

Mike Tannenbaum wasn’t lying when he said in the beginning of the season that the roster would look different every week.

If signed, I think Crompton would likely head to the practice squad. He could take some time learning the system and then be ready to battle for a roster spot next summer.

oh NO NO NO NO NO

I fucking hate Crompton with a passion... one of the most inept college QB I have ever seen... sure, come the end of last season he started to look ok but god please don't make the Jets sign this loser!

+ Oh and please no 4 QBs on the roster!

I'm hoping we tried out a LB we liked... for ST purposes maybe...

there's already a separate thread about Compton, I doubt that the Jets are cutting an ILB to sign a 4th QB for the active roster. If anything, maybe they would bring up Mauga and then sign Compton to stash on the practice squad. The corresponding move for Cummings on the active roster has to be another LB or they're running pretty shallow

Junior Seau was apparently following his lead too.

Glauber has already said Thomas nor Merriman will be signed.

There must be something going on or he wouldn't rule them out completely.

maybe the Jets are high on L.Laury as their backup ILB....and won't sign a replacement.

how's that for a "shot in the dark".

He has more than 4 years so there are no waiver claims.
He is a free agent, unless I missed something which is always possible
