If his love life is anything like Cromartie's I'd be tempted to make tons of "Straight outta Crompton" puns.

He's out next preseason MVP ala Eric Ainge and Brett Ratliff. People will clamoring for him to start by the end of August!

We've not signed any ex-Chargers for a few weeks now. We are due another one.

Some draft mag I picked up had him rated as the #2 overall QB prospect this year. Not that that means a damn thing

If this happened prior to the trade deadline we would be speculating that Clemens would be on his way to another team. But since the deadline has come and gone, I have no idea what this may be about unless it is just looking ahead to next season.

I always heard Crompton was dangerous, I never saw it first hand but the repuation Crompton has can't be that far fetched.

i don't see any other team ever being interested in Clemens.....he's gonna challenge Jim Sorgi and Tarvaris Jackson for the "Clipboard Carrier of the Year award"....year in and year out.

If we do sign, I hope he works out better than the last UTenn QB we had, as in Ainge...just saying!

I would guess that you are correct which is why, with all the QB problems around the league, Clemens is still here.

A lot of it is about fit. Clemens, while not great, has been in this offense with Shotty since it's been here. So if we need him we can still use our whole playbook on a given week instead of having to dumb it down for a guy who just got here.

This would make sense....if Brunell wasn't ahead of him on the depth chart.

My first thought is....Brunell isn't as fluent in the playbook as Clemens....then why is Clemens behind Brunell?

Brunell has been in the league so long I guess they figure he can execute the offense as well. Granted he wasn't in this offense but his experience would allow him to run it, like when Favre showed up in the middle of camp a couple of years ago. These guys have played in real games at every level of the NFL. Clemens hasn't, his advantage is being in this offense and this offense only for five seasons now.
