Out of the draft , (and at this point its obviously just speculation) D'Brick will probably start and by all accounts should adapt to the NFL quicker than most , (see the senior bowl workouts) My guess is that he will at least pick up offensive rookie of the year. ........Thoughts please
If he is dominant, he may. If he just shuts down all D-Ends lined up against him, he could win ROY. If he gets beat fairly often, then not a chance.
half the difficlty is being in a position to get the playing time needed tomake an impact - and he'll certainly have that. I wouldn't say it's a given, but it's not all tha far-fetched.
Exactly. Might point is that he WILL have (barring injury) plenty of playing time and he looks so ready for the NFL , plus he has that Bird wingspan and speed to hold off some of the better pass rushers.
no way... offensive linemen are too underrated to ever win an award short of a probowl recognition. offensive ROY goes to reggie bush
Are you an over over optimist? Um. No Offensive lineman is going to win OROY unless in 16 starts he gives up 3 sacks, that's way too much to ask for a rookie, no matter how highly touted he is coming out...
I'm sure you mean OROY? Nothing to do with optimism. He is a damn good LT and was taken at 4 because he IS that good. Reggie Bush rookie of the year???? Don't make me laugh.
An OT winning ROY? Don't think so. OROY goes to guys with numbers. Starting with Wins, then Yards, then mistakes. Brick will have a bad W-L record with the Jets (not his fault), no yards unless he recovers and takes a fumble, and plenty of mistakes to speak of, not that many will be needed, just few. D'Brick OROY? Don't bet on it. Shoot for the Pro-Bowl.
Will never happen no matter how well he does, we have a better chance winning the SB with a 15-1 record this year than Brick winning the OROY, and yes I am dead serious about that
Yes, OROY. I'm not saying D'Brick is bad or anything...But it's extremely against him to get OROY...I mean really, he'd have to give up 5 sacks, help pave a 1200+ yard back...Then he could be considered.
I think D'Brick may have the better career over 10-12 years, but N.O. is going to manufacture a lot of touches for Reggie Bush (and why shouldn't they) certainly enough for him to win ROY. A few darkhorses: J. Addai if he can pick up pass protection fast enough to beat out Rhodes. Or Deangelo Williams or Maroney (both Deshaun Foster and Corey Dillon in front of them are injury risks) If they were thrown into a starting spot both would put up nice numbers in those offenses, particularly in Carolina. And I've got a feeling that Alex Smith is going to throw to Vernon Davis quite a bit as a quick check down option, he could get 7-800 yards. All that said I think D'Brick has the perfect attitude to be very successful in this league for a very long time.
Considering he hasn;t played a down yet, I;d hold off on the OROY talk. I also agree that the title is usually reserved for more conspicuous skill players anyway.
Unless someone outperforms him big time, it'll probably be slanted to Bush. I could also see Vernon Davis or one of the three WRs (Holmes, Jackson, Moss) making a run for it. Brick would have to start literally turning people to dust if they're going to give him the award.
This thread needs to be stickied. This is classic. The off-season simply drives people insane. Now we have talk of an OL, before a single game has been played, as an OROY. Wow. Let's look at other OL drafted high (hello, Mike Williams, Gallery, etc.) yup... highly touted. Were they considered? How'd they do? Oh, that's right, they are not comparable cause D'Brick is a Jet and they weren't. Stop dreaming over nothing. This is hilarious.
It has nothing to do with him being a Jet....you're right it does. But he is highly regarded and stands a good chance , better than Gallery? We will have to wait. Insanity rules
 I will say D'Brick looks to be an awesome player, but let's wait at least ttil halfway through the season before we even discuss OROY.
