The nice surprise is we have two probowl candidates as our punter and kicker

The bad surprise is how good our defense makes other QBs look on Sunday

The pass defense was pretty uniformly excellent today. Tons of incompletes and the passes they did get were all closely contested and were the result of some really great passes/catches.

As someone already said Orton went 14 for 34...and a lot of those completions for big yards were unbelievable throws.

This was one of the top 3 passing teams in the league, we did very well to keep them to two touchdowns, and one of them would've been reversed if we still had our challenge.

Orton made some tough throws (where Broncos WRs made some tough catches), didn't really miss any easy ones and threw 20 incompletions on 34 attempts. The Jets defense played very well today.

We should still be #1 in TO differential (altho we were -1 today)

don't forget 2 of those "completions" were out of bounds (Demarius Thomas on the TD and the play right before). It's more like 12 of 34 for 159 yards 0 TD if it was called correctly.

What poor timing for this thread...except for Weatherford and Folk, of course.

The pass defense is coming around. They showed signs of promise last week and Orton had probably his worst game of the year today. I think Rex and Pettine get the kinks worked out over the bye, Revis gets healithier and our pass D begins to trend towards where it was last year.

I blame the coaches for the pass D, not the players. We blitz on like 90% of third downs but only get real pressure on like 40% of those blitzes. We do not have a dynamic pass rusher so we put all our guys in man and more often than not just waste rushers....it gives the QB time to find the open man in the 1 on 1 coverage.

There are better ways to play D than to blitz on third down when you don't have a sure fure pass rusher.

That's true. It's called Prevent D - Prevent you from winning.

I'm sure Rex know what he's doing, better than any one else on this board. He probably knows the abilities of his personnel better as well. We have to have faith in Rex and his CS. They aren't 5-1 because they don't know what they are doing. If we played the Bills, Rams, Raiders, Tampa, and SanFran and we were 5-1 and I would probably have to agree with you.
