    kickers come and go ... but a punter usually doesnt regress :)

    i say lock this guy up, weve had a punter carousel around here for too long now. plus the sooner we do it, the cheaper it will be ... only problem is the 30% rule, but i doubt it would prohibit a punters deal

    thoughts?

    I always thought the lifespan for field goal kickers & punters were similar. I think most Jets fans are happy w/ our punting game this year (so far). How much $$ would it take to lock in a punter? Or how about instead of salary, the organization just gets him a bunch of shake-weights??

    He is a punter. If the Jets want to keep him they will be able to keep him.

    Yup, Weatherford has been outstanding. Every time he punts, it seems like the ball travels 50+ yards with shit loads of hang time. No wonder why he had the highest percentage of fair catches on his punts. Lock him up...long term.

    yes it does ... but since hes a punter he probably wont see his salary increase more than 30%, even with his new found success
