Thanks. I appreciate your input, it was much needed and supremely observant.

Do you need the Spanish Translation?

    Baltimore has 5 road games left ... @ NE / ATL / CAR / HOU / CLEV
The only tough games they have left at home are PITT / NO / CIN
I don't see too many losses coming for them.

I'm rooting for NE to give them a loss on Sunday, because I'm confident that the Pats will lose more games than we will anyway ... ( @ SD / @ PITT / MINN / GB / INDY / NYJ ) ... I'm not so sure the Ravens will.

Wouldn't surprise me if the Ravens end the season with 11 or 12 wins & they've got tie breaker w/ the Jets. As for the Pats, I'm confident the Jets can beat them again. Without Moss, I'd expect the Dolphins to give the Pats a really hard time next time they meet too.

Division first. I refuse to ever root for the patriots, the dolphins, or the bills. Homefield advantage 3 months from now would be nice, but let's take things Sunday to Sunday.

I am routing for Baltimore to beat the Pats. Division First -- then everything else. Baltimore can definitely lose a few of those games you mentioned. Going into Foxboro and Atlanta will not be easy and then Pittsburgh will want blood. The Saints are a good team and Cincinnati is within the division and will play them tight like always(Cinci owns the last 3 against Baltimore).

and we control our ability to win the division even if New England wins this week, but don't control our ability to get home field unless Baltimore loses, thus any Baltimore loss at this point is more important than a NE loss.

    agreed 100%

we haven't even gotten separation in the division yet and we're worried about the ravens running the table when it's not even week 6?

    come on fellas.

there's also 2 first round byes anyways. hopefully we can get 1.

No real Jets fan can root for Patsies...unless it is last game of season and we would benefit from it!!

either you can be a real Jet fan and root for the Pats if it benefits the Jets or you can't ever. if you can, than this game certainly meets the criteria of helping the Jets, and if your position requires narrowing it to such an extreme that eliminates scneariosn that can help the Jets, you have a terribly flawed position.

You guys do realize that common opponents is the third tie breaker behind head to head and divisional records right?

This means if NE wins all of it's divisional games including the Jets game in Foxboro, and the Jets do the same (obviously sans the game they lose to the Pats) we could be looking at situation where (having tied in the division standings at say 11-5) that the Pats could concievably win the division by virtue of it's win over The Ravens and the Jets loss to them.

This scenario could have the Jets entering the playoffs as an 11-5 wildcard while the Ravens could win their division outright with a lesser record and get a first round bye.

This is a no brainer...Go Ravens!

Edit: Apologies for the typos....posting from the phone...

you can contrive the possibilities to create any scenario that defends your position, that doesn't make the result of doing so a no brainer.

if the Jets finish 11-5 and that only qualifies them as a wild card, of well. the fact remains you are creating a scenario in which you have to contrive equalizations rather than address the standings as they are now, and as they are now the Jets have the tie breaker against the Pats, so it is just fucking stupid to create a scenario where they don't to defend your position. really, you are creating an argument based on a third tie break scenario? how about we just ignore everything as it stands today?

meh whatever happens happens. you can't worry about what everyone else is doing we just need to focus on winning every single game we play and we'll be straight.

I don't think that the scenario is unreasonable.
I think it is entirely plausible that both teams could run the table in the division with the caveat being the head to head in Foxboro.

I appreciate your optimism.... but the fact remains that until the Pats lose to a division foe..and/or we get to their house and show them what's what....we are virtually tied with the team that are perrenial winners in our division year after year.

Avoiding a WC scenario is far more important than what is being posted here...imho
