Saw this linked on PFT (from Rosenthal, not Florio) and decided to give it a whirl. What an amazing article on sports agents and their dirty deeds.

There were a few Jets players mentioned:

    yikes...

Not surprised stuff like this is coming out. I mean who honestly thought Reggie Bush was the only college football star who was getting paid by a pro agent?

Nobody whose name comes out should surprise anyone. Sure we can all be dissapointed that our guys took money when they in college, but how can anybody be surprised that a 19 or 20 year old who has 10 k + put in front of him doesnt just say sure I'll take that.

He got caught and suspended from his job, and now he's blowing the whistle because his actions resulted in the end of his career as an agent. I believe he's just a common thief based on the article. I don't buy he was so naive with the $5,100.
I'm not saying it's right that those players took money, but it's totally wrong to throw this many people under the bus and for the reason he's doing it.
He's not doing it because he had some great spiritual or ethical awakening. He's doing it because the system locked him out of doing what he loved doing - as punishment and consequence for taking advantage of the very people he's now throwing under the bus...men, who were kids at the time of their action. College kids, who need money to live normal college lives, it's that simple. The NCAA is as wrong as the author of the article er, I mean the rat who wrote the article but that's a whole other animal to tackle.

This isn't steroids in baseball cheating stuff. This is kids asking for money to pay their sick parents' rent. Shit, I can't stad Mel Kiper Jr but he even throws that turd under the bus...just for being Mel Kiper jr?!

some of these kids come out of real urban areas and dont have much money to pay for food and things like that despite their college scholarship. Most D1 schools pay their players im convinced, football and basketball.

If this isn't the talk of the sports world for the next two weeks it should be.

    Wow. Just fucking wow.

He either watched Sunday's Mad Men or Jerry Macguire but clearly it wasn't Goodfellas.
And would anyone ever buy a house from this guy now? I mean it's laughable that he'd throw that in there.
He deserves to live in Encino.

The best part is Ogden basically copped to it at the end when SI fact-checked the article

I agree, a rat's a rat, and personally I think he's an asshole for naming names. But seriously, you think all these paid athletes really have nothing but good intentions for their "sick parents"? No doubt many of the kids have hard luck stories, but that money isn't going to their meemaw's retirement home....

I'm still reading this...but if this guy isn't an agent anymore he will be unemployed soon.

Players don't want their agents ousting them.

    edit: he was black listed.

I'm sure a lot of people will say he's just a scumbag and write him off but they did the same with Canseco, who was a scumbag, but was still right about almost all of it.

I'm not writing any of it off, I just don't care. None of this matters as far as the play of the game is concerned, and it's ages ago. College players should get a livable stipend anyway. They contribute fat cash to their schools, and their lack of a stipend sure isn't helping the system remain unfucked up and overflowing with parity.

tip of the iceberg folks, unfortunately.....

not hard to figure out though when u see a 19 year old athlete with a pair of diamond studs in each lobe that most folks dream about.....

gotta give this guy some props for the stones, but he is gonna need a hard hat for this.

Yeah, it's insane how much money these athletes make for their schools, and only the top 100 receive any kind of cash in the pros.

Then again they get a free ride, have their homework done for them, and can fuck any girl in school. I don't exactly feel sorry for them.

It's amazing, not just in this case but everywhere, how people feel the need to come clean after the whole thing crumbles.Just once I would love to see someone say this is what I am doing,it's wrong and I am going to stop now.Instead of having an axe to grind or a last cash grab on a book deal.

I know it will never happen
