I'll be at the game (first this season!!) and plan on booing him till my voice is gone or beer renders me largely useless. What I am hoping for is huge crowd noise, Favre stepping back in the pocket and taking that extra second or two for Moss to get open deep. Then David Harris blasting through the line to his blind side and absolutely blowing Favre up. Not hoping for injury, but if he's knocked out of the game, oh well. Not gonna cry over spilled Favre beans.
I am willing to bet last year favre played here as well, and played miserably (in comparison to last years Vikes performance) last year things would have collapsed under Mangini, and we would have been 6-10 or 7-9. We wouldnt have been able to acquire Rex or Sanchez. and this year, favre wouldnt have returned, Kellen clemens would be our QB, we wouldnt have Bart Scott or Jim Leonhard or Trevor Pryce, or Jason Taylor, Kyle Wilson, Antonio Cromartie, Ladainian Tomlinson and possibly a few other guys as well. Chances are we dont draft Greene or slauson with Mangini at the helm. I bet you anything if we made the playoffs, Schotty would have gotten a head coaching gig. I bet we still have Kerry Rhodes, and Alan faneca and Thomas Jones. Our team wouldn't just be vastly different, it would be an aging disaster on the downswing looking like the bills and only having 4 big time players, in our core four. Come to think of it, with the team on a major downswing, how many of the core four do you think we would have been able to sign this offseason? I seriously doubt it would be 3 of 4. Brett Favre won't be recognized for it, but is the reason we will be a powerhouse in the NFL this decade. We may not win a superbowl (but i sure hope so!) but with Rex and Sanchez, I have no doubts we will be ready to roll and compete with everybody for a good long time.
Who cares if he gets booed? I'd rather him get sacked. Until # of boos becomes an official stat against a QB, I don't care.
I'm indifferent about Favre. I know we were used, kind of like a whore between a failed marriage and the next serious relationship, but those were mostly good times for 3/4ths of a season. Beating the Dolphins in Miami to open the season was a lot of fun after the crapola season the year before. Being the toast of the league and Supe favorites for a couple of weeks with wins over Tenn and NE was fun and unexpected at that point in the season. Of course, watching him give the Dolphins & Chad the division with everything on the line in the last week was way worse than any highs. One of the all-time worsts with Gastineau hitting Kosar late and the fake spike, etc. But as a Jets fan, I wasn't shocked in the slightest by that last game. It was as if it was scripted by the Dark Side. And I know this is poo-poo'd as a theory as to why he failed us but...he WAS injured. And there's no doubt in my mind he could have done for us what he did for the Vikings last year if he wasn't. A healthy Favre beats the Fish at home with everything on the line. He's an old dog, but he never dogged it for us. Upper management let him dictate the terms of his career, so why is he at fault? If anything, the Jets should have held on to him and gotten something...anything. There was no reason to cater to his best interest, yet we did as if he was in absolute control when we were literally holding him hostage. It was such an inside job orchestrated by everyone involved - the Jets, Favre, the Vikings yet everyone buys the surface story. There's no way he didn't know he was going to leave the Jets for the Vikings at our goodbye presser. I think they all respected his legend and seniority to the NFL too much to have nothing to show for losing Favre (and Pennington for that matter). Even if he was on the roster - at 40 years old, I don't see the logic that would have been presented by NOT drafting Sanchez for the future if the opportunity was there. I'll boo him because he's a Viking and we're playing the Vikings but not because of anything he did or didn't do to and for the Jets.
I wasted 80, and my father wasted 80.. FUCK FAVRE. Everyone going to the game SHOULD boo the fucking shit out of that fossil! But then Cheer when JT or Shaun Ellis make him cough blood.
Brings back memories of that game against Denver. Favre looked like he wanted to be anywhere except playing football in that shitty weather. Pretty ironic for a guy who spent the majority of his career in Green Bay, Wisconsin!
People should bring pics of Jenn Sterger and Favre's dong and hold them up in the crowd so he gets distracted.
How could you not realize that it would be a waste of money buying a Favre jersey? That year I chose to get a Revis instead, Best decision.
At 8-3, everyone on the board was looking to fill in for Jenn Spermburper.... Mangini deserves Boos for that Season... Favre gave us a pretty good run. Coaching killed us that year...and...because of that end we've got Sanchez...
