Apparently one of the worst peformances ever on special teams (blocked FG, blocked punt, 103 yard kickoff return) was enough to get him fired. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=5651160
There's no margin for error in the NFL. Two bad weeks and you get fired. I don't know much about their ST coach but he seems to have been around a while.
Someone has to be the scapegoat, though they must all be thinking "who's next if we lose next week" This is usually done to send a message.
I wonder if Sparano wears sunglasses in team meetings. That might explain the disconnect between him and his coaches.
I wish we could lay off Sporano and the sunglasses thing. That's a medical condition/disability, there are so many other things to pick on about the Dolphins. Let's lay off of Sporano's eyes, re-quoting a post by Yisman. Making fun of the Phins for Sporanos condition would be like Making fun of the Jets for Rex's dyslexia. It's below the belt.
How about we stop making fun of Spag for being blind, when they stop making fun of Rex for being a baby whale?
I believe he's very sensitive to lights. (He burned his eyes with grease in his youth.) Not that he wants to wear the sunglasses - he has to.
Whoa, shocking info that was definetly not reavealed at least 2 times in this thread before. Thanks for the update, Big Ben!!
I thought it was kind of funny even though I have a very similar condition. Being extremely light sensitive for any reason and being tied down to sunglasses definitely sucks, but there are probably hundreds of other handicaps which would suck more. It's all relative. The worst part about it, is of course, the douchebag factor. People who don't know about your condition automatically assume, Douchebag! Like those bluetooth headseat wearers at the grocery store and movie theatres. Douchebags. There have been many studies on how weather affects mood. For the majority it seems that sunny weather increases morale, but for people with this condition it's the exact opposite and the light is just too oppressive. You feel like a mole. I can't go anywhere without my Maui Jims and have seriously considered moving to Seattle, England, Ireland, etc.
I kind of feel bad for the guy. I saw him walking up and down the sidelines with a defeated look on his face. That's a man's career that we saw get destroyed before our very eyes.
