Adam_Schefter Mark Anderson NFL.com Career Stats Mark Anderson was selected with the 159th overall pick (5th round) in the 2006 NFL Draft. Despite not being an official starter in the Bears Cover 2 defensive scheme, Anderson has thrived in his role as a third-down pass rusher, and during the 2006 regular season he totaled 12 sacks, a Chicago Bears rookie record, which was previously held by Brian Urlacher. Anderson also received consideration in 2006 Defensive Rookie of the Year, finishing second in the voting to former Alabama teammate, DeMeco Ryans. He was named to Pro Football Weekly/Pro Football Writers Association All-Rookie team Cut Marcus Dixon, and bring this guy in? Maybe Rex can get something out of this kid. Being a rookie, and playing as a 3rd down pass rusher with 12 sacks is pretty impressive. Of course that was in 2006. I also think Lovie Smith is dumb fuck. Sorry if this is a Jtrain type thread, but I remember seeing this guy on sportscenter a few years ago destroying people.
interesting info, but being as he hasn't been on this team and doesn't know the playbook doesn't seem worth it to grab him now and expect any impact. especially since we just singed price and howard greene back. we have ellis, pohua, devito, gholston, greene, pryce, and kroul. Dixon is long gone. if we were to cut someone to bring him in it would be kruol since he is now the lowest jet on the totem pole with woodhead, clowney, and turner all gone
Not sure if he works in a 3-4. The Bears cut him and replaced him with DE Charles Grant. Worth looking into though.
It was not an outrageous thought on your part. The problem with Anderson for the Jets is that he is much too slight to play end. He'd have to be an outside linebacker. I don't think he's really any good in coverage. Basically, if the Jets were interested in him, they'd only be looking at him contributing as a pass rusher on obvious passing downs or as a special teams player.
Marcus Dixon isn't 'long gone'........he's still on the roster, and has been since we claimed him off waivers. .
i see. well then i guess the speculation is still on. I can see major contributions from this guy, and I believe Rex could probably get something outta him. True though it is the middle of the season, and dunno if rex would have time to work with this guy. Again I think Lovie Smith is an awful coach.
I really wanted this guy as a 3-4 OLB back in the 2006 draft. Even though he had no prior experience at OLB, he displayed some good pass rushing skills. Also at 6-4 255-260 running a 4.6, he had the prototypical size/speed ratio you want for the position. From the 3rd round on down he was a steal. Mangini had just implemented the 3-4 and we had just traded away Abraham. Mark Anderson learning to play OLB would have been better than Victor Hobson. At worst he could have been a situational pass rusher.
my bad, dixon is still there. i can't understand why as a 3-4 team we have 8 Lineman and only 8 LBers? although i assume we only keep 5 or 6 lineman on the active 45
I know he signed with the Texans but we have been running a lot of formations with 4 down lineman on passing downs. If he was brought in as a PR specialist/special teams player then I think Rex would probably have him with his hand in the dirt.
