I don't know. Maybe a relative was a Jets fan and he didn't like that. Marino could be a reason. I had a friend who was a Fin fan because of Marino, but his father was a Jets fan. He's also a biased, ignorant moron with a horrible opinion. His bias gets in the way of everything football. One reason why I can't stand Fin fans. They all know nothing.
I agree with IJR. Cakes is sometimes in the wrong, and he can be grating at times, but he was not in the wrong here. The part about how people should stop commenting on it, etc. Just as some feel this thread is beating a dead horse, saying that people should stop commenting on it is also beating a dead horse. Every few pages someone pops up and says something similar. The bottom line is that this thread is necessary. There are enough people that tune into the Francesa show, that new threads would continually be created if there wasn't one centralized huge thread to discuss all things Francesa. I understand that many people feel that Jets fans should simply ignore Francesa, but those people should understand that it is impossible to control the entire fanbase, and they'd be better off simply ignoring this thread themselves. All of that was pretty much what Cakes was trying to say. The whole exchange was sickening, especially the "I'm more respected than you are" post.
Cakes didn't deserve to get banned, and WW85 went way overboard with his comments. I'm glad more people see that.
back to francesa: I watched mike'd up, and if he talked about the Jets, I guess I missed it. Giants, Yankees, then horse racing. And not even real horse racing. Some movie someone made that I guess he's paid to promote or something. I guess he had to have mentioned the Jets, but I had the TV on and didn't even catch it, so it must've been quick.
He mentioned them briefly. Said there's nothing to talk about since they did what they were expected to do: destroy the Bills.
For a thread that so many think is useless or should be closed, its now up to 2000 posts. Isn't the whole idea of a message board to discuss topics and to drive traffic to the site? It seems like this thread succeeds on both counts.
This thread is like a release for me. I never have to post because 99% of the time other posters have already spoken my mind for me. The way Mike carries on, if it were anyone else who went on about the Jets in this manner on a daily basis or insisted on giving then short shrift in their own dam city..grinding his giant ax day in day out it would be open season on them. If Mike can dish it out so freely then the fans should be able to speak their minds on what he has to say...and if not here on a Jets Message board then... where?
Francesa will only discuss the Jets when they lose. Though I don't blame him for not talking about them tonight. The Giant game vs the 3-0 Bears(but not that good) on sunday night is more important. In the last 2 weeks he probably discussed the jet wins for an hour combined. Most of it was taking phone calls because he had to. When the Jets lose their next game(hopefully never) he'll discuss the loss all week and knock the Jets for thinking they're the best.

For once, Fat Mike is totally right. As enjoyable as the Jets beatdown of the Bills was for us, it really didn't leave much to talk about. The Giants handing the Bears their first loss and the Yankees moving on to the playoffs are much more interesting topics for a talk show.
As much as I praise the mods for giving the Steeler troll the boot, I have to point to WW85's behavior in this thread as something the mods can learn from. WW85 then unloads an ad-hominem on Cakes, Cakes responded sarcastically (is sarcasm violating the TOS?), and then Cakes is banned. Cakes was done dirty.
I posted 'adopt a bust 2010: Ryan Mathews' in the Mathews thread. I got 2 warnings and almost banned when defending myself from WW85 and harpua's insults AFTER I said I was in the wrong and decided to squash the issue (which was bullshit anyway). Shocking that the same shit happened to Cakes a couple weeks later. If you're not in the draft thread circlejerk keep to yourself I guess.
