LMFBO! :rofl2: I'm a Sound Designer/Producer/DJ basically whatever pays.... So I work from home.... mostly...Except when I gig obviously. I do the remixes in my down time .....also, that's my 1st love. <3 I actually have a soundcloud channel too and have to get some of my mixes up..
So far in the first three games, Slauson has allowed 2 sacks, been called for holding twice and one false start. That one holding call brought a TD back. All of 09 Alan Faneca allowed 6.5 sacks and was called for 1 holding penalty and 1 false start. We all knew this would be a project with Slauson and Ducasse, I just hope they catch on sooner than later.
not to jinx slauson but his pass protection is waaaayyy better than fanecas's was last year. I see after that incident where he almost got sanchez a career ending injury it seems he vowed he would protect him at all costs.... even if its a flag. His run blocking will take some time to really go. Remember in the beginning of the season last year our run game was not so hot? it takes time to click. Not to diss faneca but we are fine with slauson... that guy is a fucking fighter. ( I do watch the the game at least 3 times a week to properly see this)
Faneca is much more expensive and was a seasoned vet, so more was expected out of him. He was also old and past his prime and just getting worse. Not to mention those numbers are terrible considering we led the league in rushing attempts. We have passed more this season, and Slauson will only continue to get better.
If you are able to, rewatch the hold. He clearly held onto him just long enough for Sanchez to get by. His hands were outside of the jersey. Does that kind hold get called all the time? No. But it was clearly within the definition of a hold and they will always call that if that is the hold to proved to spring someone free to a TD.
And in 2010,in a single game Faneca allowed a sack, a hit and 4 pressures...the article does not discuss penalties.
I just posted that for info, if you notice in my post it states we all knew this was going to be a project. I'm completely fine with Slauson and I'm rooting for him.
i also re-watched the game (like the other 2 games) focusing on the o-line. Besides of the above mentioned plays (first hold + the defender he didn't recognize while pulling) he was okay like through the other games. My impression also was that he didn't get as much help from Mangold as against BAL + NE. Woody with 3 pressures given up; Brick was beaten bad once; also Mangold screwed up a running-play at the beginning of the game. overall i think the o-line plays very solid - not great yet. and Slauson isn't the only one of that unit who makes mistakes. i still feel confident in slauson btw.. wilson again had many missed tackles - don't like that.
You speak the truth. Slauson, for a player with so limited experience, is doing just fine. We are running the ball. Our QB has time to throw. We are 2 and 1 against very TOUGH competition. All this with a young OG in Slauson and an inexperienced secondary( terms of playing together). Many want to complain about SLAUSON but I wonder where they were last year when FANECA was terrible even in the running game for the first 6 games. The OL has to gain consistency by playing together. With some, Slauson has to play PERFECT or he must be relegated to the bench! Unrealistic
Did you watch the first 6 or 7 games last year? Faneca stunk! He let more pressure in on Sanchez that anyone else. He was terrible in the run game as well. Then he picked it up and was merely OK. IMO you expect PERFECTION from Slauson but accepted terrible play from Faneca because he had a reputation and made pro-bowls-IN THE PAST! Give Slauson time to gel with his teammmates on the Ol and then lets address your concerns. As of right now IMO Slauson is doing a better job then Faneca did in the same time period last year! Further, Slauson 's play has grown in leaps and bounds as time goes on. By the way, in game 1 vs Ngata, Mangold chose to help Moore rather then Slauson on the ONE play where Ngata bull rushed him. The rest of the game SLAUSON held his own against NGATA. Id say NGATA is a decent player, wouldn't you?
Of course you conveniently forgot to mention that we are now passing a lot more then when Faneca was getting Sanchez rushed and hit ealry last season. Imo we could not be passing this much with faneca in for Slauson! Slauson is doing just fine for one so inexperienced. In time he will be dominant. He is a fighter!
My point was more that nobody was saying half the shit he was accusing them of in his posts. He also agreed wholeheartedly with sg3, who also completely missed the point and thought people were calling Slauson terrible or suggesting he wasn't improving.
I hear ya. If it don't make dollars, it don't make sense. Like you said, if people want to do that for free to share their findings with us here (or with people on other boards, in fantasy leagues, or with friends, family, and co-workers), then more power to them. I tried to chart the personnel (# of TEs, RBs, and WRs) used on every scrimmage play for the Ravens-Jets game and only made it through the first half. I missed one play and said fuck it. I saw the play, but not the formation. Maybe there was a tight shot of Sanchez or Ryan before the snap or the replay of the prior play took too long. Whatever it was, I didn't see the personnel grouping quick enough to mark it down in my notebook. Besides, it is not much fun to watch a live NFL game while you mark stuff down on a piece of paper. I don't record games anymore. I had taped every Jets game from 2000-02 thinking I might want to watch them again someday. I never did.
I love watching football games. I have a huge collection. It's a huge passion of mine. So I can understand why people will re-watch the games of their favorite team a few extra times.
