Never said he invented it. Sure it's been around a long time, but Henning made it the focal point of the offense down in Miami, and actually successful in the pros for such frequent use of it.
The O was not terrible in 2000. There were 3 games where we could not run the ball at all, but overall the O played pretty well. And for the 30K post, you could have actually looked up the 2000 season
i don't get the fascination with # of posts milestones anyway. I guess it's a big deal to many. Congratulations though junc.
I meant to direct that at Phin post, not meant for you. Not trying to feed the wold ova hee ya know. lol
I didn't realize I was closehmy: Our O was awful, we had to fall behind big and let Vinny call plays in the no huddle before we got anything going. He had Curtis Martin in his prime behind a good OL yet he had Vinny throw the ball almost 600 times in 15 games coming off the achilles injury and losing his best WR.
How could you? Its impossible to even pretend that way. Edit: And with that, my post count jumps to 10. Now all I need is to reach 50 so that I can actually post some links (to my porn website :breakdance myself.
Junc, I agree that the whole point is to win the game, but he did not call a bad game, the point of the thread was in regards to Henning being called out by phin fans, he did not do a bad job with the offense, it just happened that we scored 31 pints, the Jets offense averages 21 pts a game. I hope we continue to be balanced and put up the kind of points we did, it takes a lot of pressure of the defense.
They finished ranked 18th in total offense is 2000. Right around the same area we have been the last 4 years under Schottenheimer. Henning's O also put up 524 yards in one game against the '00 Ravens who are considered the greatest single season defense of all time. Not saying Henning is a mastermind or offensive genius, but he is capable of calling a good offense. He led competent offenses in Carolina with Jake Delhomme as his QB...
2006: Chad was coming off TWO shoulder surgeries 2007: OL was a mess and Chad was hurt again 2008: we got Favre a month before the start of the season 2009: rookie QB starting day 1 That's a little different than a very good OL, a solid vet QB(coming off an achilles injury) and a future HOF RB. He passed too much, he had horrible gameplans that led to ineffectiveness on O until we were forced to run the hurry up where we had success.
Thank you for the caveat that Dolphins as animals are cool. Dolphins are one of my favorite animals. They just happen to be the mascot of my favorite football team's divisional opponent. I'd also like to point out that Dolphins are *not* gay sharks. They hold their own in combat. While they are slower than sharks they are far more agile and have sonar. Their conical teeth and ramming rostrum are quite deadly. Killer whales are actually dolphins and one of the most fearsome predators in the ocean.
You're just making excuses for Schottenheimer. Pennington had the best year of his career under Henning in 2008 with terrible WRs and an avg OL.
The 07 version wasn't coming off 2 shoulder surgeries either. Don't tell me you give Schott a pass because CP sprained his ankle, but bash Henning's season with VT coming off a torn fuckin achilles. Henning and Schottenheimer are equally frustrating and capable of putting together solid games IMO.
Our OL was atrocious in 2007. In 2007 w/ Chad's ankle(a current injury at the time) we didn't throw nearly 650 times and we didn't have Curtis in his prime. In 2001 we rode Curtis and made the playoffs, we limited Vinny's throws and cut back on his INTs. Henneing had him throw near 600 times in just 15 games coming off that injury and he threw 25 picks. Henning did an awful job for us. People don't realize how good brian is b/c of all he has had to deal w/ since taking over but there is a reason he was a hot candidate last year for HC jobs.
