Yeah, not sure why he used that example. The Dolphins already had 2 timeouts left, and running the ball three straight times to way too damn predictible.

Good time management = maybe not getting in the endzone = 4 point lead = potential LOSS

Doing what Rex did = 8 point lead = at worst a tie, or in this case a *%#% WIN

His opening statement is interesting because game management was one of the biggest gripes Dolphins fans had with Sparano last year. Most notable gaffe was their game against the Saints where he called a time out right before the half and gave the Saints an opportunity to score a 1 yard TD when it seemed they were ready to just kick a field goal.

Don't agree with Lombardi. Rex/Shotty made the right calls to go for the endzone. Going up 8 is more important than making Miami use another timeout. You need put it in the hands of the defense with an 8 point lead.

This guy has not coached a down in the NFL at any level, and thinks he knows how to manage the clock?

When did anyone ever agree with Lombardi?

At least we don't have the Herminator and Dick Curl to manage our game clock any longer.

The best game management aspect of the Dolphins win was that the Jets didn't misplay the throw to Fasano like they did to Gonzalez in last year's Falcons game. That's a sign of good coaching.

You go for the 8 point lead every time in that situation. I don't care if Peyton Manning is on the other sideline. Lombardi must be confused.

I expected to go off on Lombardi but, after watching his piece..

    He's 100% right...

I hated that call right there - Especailly if your team is Ground and Pound....

    Gotta keep the clock moving.

This is the same guy who said we were going to cut Bryan Thomas and Shaun Ellis because the team wasn't selling PSLs.

He said that the Pass call down at the goal line with 2+ minutes left for the Jets should have been a run to keep the clock going and force Miami to use a Time Out......

Sorry but no, he's not. What are your priorities in that situation?

    1) Score a TD.
    2) Milk the clock.

You do whatever you can to make it an 8 point game with just over 2 minutes to go.

What would have happened if the Jets fumbled on one of those run plays? I'm pretty sure they would have crucified Rex for risking a fumble trying to milk the clock rather than going for the TD.
