How about we take a long look at this version of the OLine in the offseason. What we have is what it is for 2010 and honestly, neither one of them gives me comfort. Slauson has to cut down on the penalties. Vlad has to learn how to play the position from scratch so I suppose Slauson due to no other option currently available. Slauson by default.

I went with Ducasse based on talent, but he shouldn't start until he's completely comfortable in that role.

all players make mistakes. Why only worry about SLAUSON? Woody has been far worse then Slauson so far this year. BRICK has not exactly been great either!

Maybe we should listen to what Ryan said in his press conference yesterday? How he talked about teams going after Wilson and Slauson? Slauson is drawing the other team's best inside pass rusher. As somneone mentioned, Mangold should have been helping Slauson with Ngata, not helping Moore.

Teams will always go after anything they think they can exploit with a mismatch. They have been going after Slauson, and he has held up pretty well.

Ducasse was drafted as a project, much like Pouha was. People here freaked out when Pouha took some time to develop, and he wasn't helped by a season ending knee injury in preseason his second year.

Ducasse is going to take a year, maybe two to develop. He first played football in what, his junior year of HS? Then he played small school college ball at LT. I've said it before, if Slauson could not beat him out this year, we were in deep shit. Callahan knew Slauson from Nebraska. Callahan KNEW that Slauson would be better than Fanecca. How quickly people forget how gawd awful Fanny was in pass protect.

I agree with some of the posts above me, Gotta go with Slauson, Vlad just isnt ready yet.

  6. I'm really not sure why there are so many complaints about Slauson! Aside from acouple penalties and sack given up week 1 against one of the best interior d-men in football...what is there to dislike?

The O-line has been very solid all season long. They are an extremely physical unit that is going to get better as the season goes on.sorry to tell you haters but Slauson is a big part of that. He's one of five.

Slauson maybe an average player at this point...but he's tough, adds big time size to the interior, and is just as much of a mauler as Faneca was. Let's face it, this whole team has a problem w/ penalties..why single out a guy that's really playing beyond the expectations for him when he was drafted?

I can't really make a choice because i haven't really seen a whole lot of Ducasse

But people are overreacting when it comes to Slauson

He has been a real solid player so far

Imo Slauson has been neither awful or solid. And yes, others on the line have made their mistakes. But Vlad is a rookie, and the CS chose to go with Slauson no doubt for a reason. Slauson imo deserves further watching. He has not played himself onto the bench, but neither has he so far earned a starting position for the whole year no matter what.

Funny how message boards often become pro and con arguments. Sometimes the right answer is in the middle. Like about Slauson.

Having said that, he stays there for now.
