Dude we need to rev this guy up and get him going next week against the Bills, give him like 20-25 carries, to get himself up to speed. The game plan should be to run the ball, classic Rex Ryan football, Sanchez won us two divisional games and played amazing, now it's the running game's turn to carry us to victory. Rich Cimini points out that Shonn Greene was in 14 of 57 offensive plays. LaDainian Tomlinson was in 45. We need better production from Greene, especially if we continue to win games and stay in playoff contention. Is anyone a little disappointed, he's not playing better? He's a hard hitter and we all know that, but he doesn't have to run so violently each run, he's going to get himself hurt, it just seems he's not being patient and just wants to hit the hole and hurt someone constantly. Granted the 3 games we played so far, are stingy run defenses
The offense has been the least of our concerns the last two weeks. He's young and he's very good. There's no reason to worry about him. He'll be there when it matters. If anything it may be a blessing that they're keeping his legs fresh for later in the year, just like last year.
As well as Ladanian is playing, imo the Jets would be mixing Greene in there more but for concerns about his fumbling. And that is a concern.
They may be saving him for the home stretch like they did last year. When every team is worn down and hurting we bring out the fresh war hammer to pound them into the dirt.
greene has been fine the last two games. His YPC average wasn't great but he got some key yardage when we needed it. LT has been the hot hand and playing great, so they've been giving him a little more work. That'll shift to keep the guys fresh
Tomlinson is doing great. SG will get his carries... I would like to see more SG but they are playing very well right now...
Yeah I just don't want this young player to get "lost" in the team, despite LT taking his carries and PT, I would love to keep him fresh, but nothing is better then gaining experience on the field for a young player with good upside
I don't know about you guys, but I had a feeling Shonn was going to "Pop one" last night like he did in the playoffs. It'll happen again, just wait... Don't worry about him unless you drafted him in a fantasy league. I like using LT a lot in the first half, and punishing them with a lot of Shonn in the second half.
We'll need Greene fresh in the second half of the season. The hot hand belongs to LT right now, so let him do what he does.
Since preseason, LT has been our most consistent offensive player and we should bench him? You have got to be kidding.
This was my thinking. With how well Tomlinson has been playing, the Jets have the luxury of not over-using Greene so early in the season (unlike Chris johnson, who will be spent by about week 10).
We are averaging 137 yrds/gm on the ground ... our running game is working just fine. The lower workload now will pay dividends later on in the season. When the weather becomes a factor ... Look out!
Was there any word about his injury last night? I don't think he ever came back in after he hobbled off the field
Not using him early worked out in the end last year. He also came up limping on his last carry last night. He probably just isn't a workhorse back, very few people can handle that workload so thats not surprising. Hopefully the Jets have a real third option somewhere on the roster in case Tomlinson wears down later in the season and Greene is not available.
I was actually thinking this as well. Get all we can get out of LT while we can now, then let Greene come in and clean up. Worked very well for us last year.
Man you stole my thunder... no reason to wear him down if the team is winning games. They haven't really needed the running game this year yet but come December when it's cold the Jets almost certainly will be pounding the rock.
Who said anything about benching? I never said to bench LT at all, all I said was that we need to get him into some type of rhythm running the ball, our offense has been amazing, but I'd still like to see all of our players playing well. If anything if the game plan against the Bills is to run the football, they both could get around 15 carries each, and get somewhere around 200 yards rushing
