I think this could actually end up being a plus for us in resigning him after the season.
I'm pretty sure we weren't going to keep both him and Holmes as the cost would have been prohibitive but maybe the price is more cost effective now?

Redeemed? No. As far his off the field problems he is just another drunk with a problem that he needs to fix.

He needs to resolve his various criminal problems which are embarrassing to him and to the Jets family. He needs to accept personal responsibility for his behavior. I think he should stop drinking. He needs to address whatever problems he has in his personal life that enabled him to put himself and others in such a stupid and dangerous situation. He needs to grow up and start acting like a responsible professional who has class and respect for himself and for other people. After he gets these things straightened out and he is living his life like a responsible person for about a year or so, then it might be fair to say that he has redeemed himself.

Ask his teammates and the organization. They're the ones he needed to atone to. If they're really behind him as much as they say they are, it should be a non-issue for the fans.

baloney. he needs to resolve his criminal issues. he has not done so. his teammates will say whatever they are advised to say to the media. that doesn't mean he is redeemed. He needs to fix himself before he wrecks himself. That cannot be accomplished in a week or in a month.

i spent some time trying to find more information on this to no avail. how can antibiotics mess with a breathalyzer? i havent ever heard of that and dont really understand it and i have medical training. then again, i'm a veterinarian and blood alcohol content isnt a hot topic in animals...

Please, there was another player on the field last night from the Phins who had a recent DUI and didn't miss a play. Let's stop this hypocrisy. Was what he did stupid, dangerous and immature? Of course. But he should be treated the same as other players in the league until and unless the rules are changed for everyone.

I also think Edwards had nothing to redeem himself for. He played quite well against the Pats.

Has Calvin Pace redeemed himself? How about Shaun Ellis? Ronnie Brown?

Heh. Well Ellis has been having another very good year, so I think the answer for him is yes.

this whole thing is utterly ridiculous.

yeah the jets should suspend b easy for a game for a DWI when no other team in the league does

Braylon never needed redemption to begin with.

sounds like most people on this board are already on the "we support our player" bandwagon. Interesting. I'm also of that bandwagon, but it was by no means a sure thing that the community wouldn't ostracize him for this latest infraction.

To his credit, he had no idea he was drunk, and neither did the guys that got in the car with him. He was functioning normally. The smart thing to do would have been to take a sobriety test and refusing a breathalizer. But I'm sure next time he goes out drinking he'll be taking a different way home or test himself before getting behind the wheel, so in that sense yes he is redeemed (we'll see months from now)

Well, none of the paper have said, but they have clearly made an effort to get that fact into print. I seem to remember in my college days, that hazy era, that antibiotics would make you MUCH more fucked up if you drank. Not sure if that's the angle they're gonna play, but I did notice that they amde sure to get that fact in print.

What does that have to do with any of us? Why does he have to redeem himself to the fans? Like I said, he needed to atone to the organization and his teammates for being a distraction. They sure seemed to be over it quickly, they instituted a very fair punishment given the circumstances, and they moved on. Who are you to say the rest of us shouldn't?
