No it doesn't. Because 8-8 wasn't getting you into the playoffs anyway. Even if you did beat Cincy later, you obviously couldn't beat Indy. I mean they almost put up 500 yards of offense on you when they went "all-out". So after week 16, the Jets would have been sitting at 7-8. But, the Colts took out Peyton Manning, and their starters with the lead in the 3rd quarter. And NY went on a 21-0 run or 17-0 run to end the game.
Yeah, it's really easy to claim guaranteed wins against teams you haven't played. We beat a division rival on the road (never a gimmie, even as bad as the Bills are) and a team in the NFC championship on the road. We're not quite ready for the Super Bowl, here, but both wins count for something. There's something to be said for finding a way to win close games.
You Will Suffer Humiliation An oldie but a goodie. http://www.theonion.com/articles/you-will-suffer-humiliation-when-the-sports-team-f,10804/
When Manning & Co. left the game midway through the 3rd quarter it was a one score game. To declare there was no way the Jets would have won that game had the Colts kept their starters in is stupid. No one knows how the game would have played out had they kept the starters in. The Jets were much more healthy in that game than they were when Manning went off in the second half of the AFCC game. I love how all Fins fans think they know what would have happened as if they're Mrs. Cleo or something.
i watched that fins game and i am not impressed by their O or D minny was missing harvin for more than half the game, their receivers were bernard berrian and greg lewis. how hard is it took look good against that group? on top of that, minny still moved the ball AT WILL inside the 20s. wake had a good game rushing the passer, but nearly all of minnys big runs came to his side speaking of which, ap ran all over this team. A LOT of broken arm tackles, that form wont get it done against us shancoe absolutely abused them. not just one or two big plays, he was consistently open. good luck with keller harvin channeled the ghost of tedd ginn and fumbled a TD catch into an interception vontae and dansby looed good tho, and jason allen looked solid ... the fins D came up big turnovers in the red zone, but if theyre counting on that for the D to be successful then good luck and the offense did absolutely nothing to impress me
I agree, it wasn't good...but the o-line had a phenomenal game against the likes of the Williams brothers and Jared Allen (who Long shut down all game). I think the o-line play has gone largely unnoticed due to the attentiveness of the passing game.
they looked okay, they stood out on the long ronnie run and one other drive (the series before the favre end zone fumble, where they ended up punting) ... other than that they were eh as for long, hes an all-pro left tackle, he should take anyone he faces out of the game
Taylor and Porter's production with their teams have been minute compared to their replacements Wake and the rookie Misi. I have not been a fan of the Dancing Queen since he pulled his off season stunt in the spring of 2008. Let me ask you this? After years of despising him, how did it feel to cheer for him?
I try to imagine Taylor sacking Henne in the baby shit green uniforms you guys have. Its so wierd... What was it like seeing Pennington play you guys in our fag Orange and Teal uniforms?
At this point, I'm glad we ended up with Pennington instead of the dancing fruitcake. You will all be bitching about Taylor being washed up within weeks.
