So last night I went to the final preseason game for the Argos and waited around the locker room afterwards to try and get autographs from Eric Crouch and Ricky Williams. I was being totally respectful and had a 5x7 glossy photo with a Sharpie all ready to go, I only needed the 3 seconds it takes for him to put down his autograph. Most of the kids waiting around the gate didn't even know what he looked like and were asking every player that walked through when Ricky was coming out. When I saw him leave the locker room, and none of the little kids noticed, I walked through the security gate, which was unmanned, and right up to Ricky. I wasn't crowding him, as this was not really a public area so there were not any other ppl that would be asking for an autograph for about 15 more feet. I had the picture and marker out, and literally walked right up to him holding it out, saying "Ricky could I just get a quick autograph please?" He looked right past me and kept walking like he didn;t even hear, and liek I wasn't there, and right into the group of kids that now knew who he was because they must have seen me make a b-line for him when he came out. Again he didn't even acknowledge that people were there, just kept walking and eating his sub and the teammates around him were basically telling fans to leave him alone. In my opinion, that really sucks on his part. Everyone there was being respectful, nobody was making comments about pot or anything like that. I, for one, know alot about his NFL career, a little about his college career, and am very interested in his CFL opportunity. Still, he couldn't make time, not just for a few seconds. I know alot of athletes do stuff like that, but every other player that walked out signed autographs for every kid that asked, so why is Ricky different? Because he is from the NFL? Alot of the other guys are too. One thing that I realised from last night is that there's alot to be said for those guys that stick around and sign every last autograph, because Ricky isn't one of them. I guess some guys just take for granted that people outside their locker room give a shit too.
I was hoping to do much the same when he comes to Regina and bring my little guy but I guess it probably will not do much good, I was a big fan of his before the retirement, Dolphin or not, I will still go to the game just to see him play
When Ricky comes to Edmonton I'm going to walk up to him, light a fat joint, and yell the j-e-t-s chant right in his face.
Why are you surprised? Williams has problems. Remember when he only talked to the press with his helmet on? He has a phobia of being around people, especially people he doesn't know. Man, if ya walk up to a person with mental illnesses.... be prepared for anti-social behaviour. Ricky.... is pretty wacky.
i went to high school with a cousin of his. ricky is MAD nervous around people. not to mention hes not your typical athlete.hes a nomadic pothead. plus to be honest i doubt he cares about canadian fans. and im not trying to be disrespectful but hes prolly just angry he has to play up there for the money cuz he needs it. BUT REGARDLESS I TOTALLY AGREE THAT WAS PRETTY FUCKIN DICK OF HIM! just doesnt surprise me though!
