I was hoping to get some actual game talk going, I mean Revis is out and we do play Sunday. I knew I should've thrown Braylon's name in the thread title somewhere. Anyway, the theory holds especially true for Miami, until Henne makes us pay he will being seeing many different looks, and we'll see many looks of terror on his face.
I don't remember reasons 1 and 2, but how about completely dominating Brady and the Pats while Revis was out?
Br4dw4y was making this same argument throughout the holdout. It's definitely going to help. The positive to Revis leaving Sunday's game is that it forced Cromartie to step up and play aggressively, which will cause serious benefits the rest of the season.
Another example is last year when we lost Jenkins. Many, myself included, thought our Defense would take a big hit, yet we got better. That says alot for our schemes and coaches. Last year what he did with our defense sold me completely. Have to agree with this write up for sure.
Looking back to Buddy's defense from the late 70s and early 80s is not a great example. Offenses in this era thrown the ball substantially more and the rules are more catered to the passing attacks.
I think without the Edwards bullshit taking place; and a healthy Revis for this sunday there's no doubt we take first place. Since it's all happened, I am not so sure. The scheme is good but it doesn't hurt to have a talent that is undeniable like Revis. We're lucky we prepared for life without him, but his absence will be felt. Lets not lie to eachother.
I think we can all agree that Revis was at 75% at best vs NE and if you are a realist, was burned quite a bit that game. The question becomes, will the defense be better with a healthy Crom/Wilson/Pool in his place or worse? I think last week proved that benching him is the right move. We shut down Brady and the Pats. You think Miami is even close to being as good as the Pats on offense? I think not. The Phins are a running team. Goodnight. Jets win 21-3

Badway's argument doesn't really speak to the whole season. Part of why I wanted Revis back does not have to do with teams like the fish that really at this point do not have as many weapons as the Ravens at wideout. It takes some doing to wrap one's head around that, but it's true. Now on paper the Pats also have more, and more than average, but Welker was not his usual Jet killing self in the second half. Was it Smith's hit, something else purely to do with Welker, or was it the way the Jet D compensated for Revis being out? Probably all three, but it was probably not purely the the last one alone. Now with Miami up, there is less to deal with in the passing game, so the Jets can afford to have less depth at corner. I will still be concerned about Kyle, and wonder how Cro on Marshall will go. But this is a team that quite simply can be covered with fewer quality corners. Even so we'd be quite concerned about Revis being out if Kyle and/or Cro were also banged up. So it's one thing to say the Jets can get by without Revis for a couple of games against opponents who do not have lots of weapons at wideout. It's another thing entirely to go the whole season like that. In other words, I disagree that Badway's position really describes the whole season situation.
