People in office jobs aren't role models. Sports people are! That is why they get suspended for bad off-field conduct.
A friend sent me this. I can't believe the stupidity of this guy. The Player Protect program provides a 24-hour driving service exclusively for professional athletes. The company also provides security, if requested, from current or former law-enforcement agents. If a player wants a lift home, he can call anytime and will be driven home in a luxury SUV or a Mercedes limo or an executive limo van.
Why wouldnt they be? They sure are to their familys, Employees, Friends and such! If your role model in life is Braylon Edwards then you have more to worry about then him getting a DWI! Come one now! While i do not agree with it and he should have called a ride ... He will deal with the shame brought upon him & move on ... so should we! Lets Beat the Fish!
I should hope so. If Braylon ever needs to drive a truck for the Jets then I'd say his playing days are over anyway so being inactive would be just fine.
I'm torn. This really doesn't send much of a message. I mean what's he going to miss two series?? Not much of a punishment. But I guess if you sit him the entire game you are punishing the team just as much as you are Edwards. So that said I am glad to hear he will play especially after watching this weeks game again. He really played one of his best games. One other note on this whole DUI. WTF are these guys doing out at 5 am don't they have practice the next day. Focus on your team and you wouldn't be out that late and you wouldn't be driving drunk. Very disappointed in all three of these guys.
Agreed. Braylon put the Jets in a real tough spot here. I'm glad I don't have to make that decision. As for the second thing, that's been discussed in the thread. They didn't have practice today. (Edit: not that it makes it any better...)
were brick and gholston drunk also if one of them was sober then all of em r stupid whoever was sober shoulda drove braylon home
Right, except he was shitfaced at 5:00 am and all that great wisdom and advice doesn't mean dik when you're wasted and somebody is pointing flashlight in your eyes. He was toast because he was smashed. Get it?
WRONG !!! The NFL has a drunk driving program 24 hrs a day drivers are available so that players don't drive drunk. All they had to do was call for a driver. thats what they should have done. thats what they are supposed to do.
OK really, everyone here who is throwing rocks never had a few drinks and drove? Give me a f**cking break.
Edwards may not have hit anyone or harmed anyone while Driving under the influence, but he easily could have. What else makes the distinction between No big deal...and big deal. Waving a gun in public? Carrying a gun in public....or do you have to kill someone? Plaxico Burress is spending some serious time in jail and the only person he hurt was himself. Drunk Driving is a serious crime, and I don't think benching a wide receiver for a few series because it's a big game is sending a very good message. I imagine Roger Goodell is going to have something to say about this before the season is done.
right....how dare we expect that a millionaire football player who is already on criminal probation in Ohio for an alcohol related incident obey the law. Lets just let him do whatever he wants to. Because he is a football star. We should just let him drive drunk as much as he likes and how dare we call for him to suffer any negative consequences as a result of his drunken driving. that would be "throwing rocks". shame on us for being so judgmental. We should all apologize to Braylon for being so mean....
This would be true, if: 1. We were pro athletes, making millions, and were ROLE MODELS living our lives on a public showcase with so many people looking up to us. 2. We had a 24hr driving service in luxury cars (free of charge I believe) regardless of where we were. 3. In a place like the NYC where it is probably the easiest place in the world (U.S. at least) to have multiple options to get home without having to even think of driving. 4. Already on probation. I don't know about you, but the time I was on probation, I was making damn sure I wasn't putting myself in a situation that could bite me in the ass legally, even if it was just to not deal with all the bs all over again. This isn't exactly blowing a .09 or barely over.
As long as he has something to say about the numerous other DWI incidents around the league this year (that have as of now gone unpunished) fine with me.
