Sanchez may have played his ass off during the playoffs, but this was the best I've ever seen our franchise QB perform in a must win game! 0-2 with the Dolphins and Patriots both 2-0? Wouldn't have been a pretty picture. 21/30, 220 yards, 3 TD's/0 INT's, QB rating of 124.3! Edwards, Cotchery and Keller all had 1 TD a piece. Hats off to Dustin Keller, both Cotchery and Edwards came up clutch but Keller simply dominated for 7 catches, 115 yards, to go along with 1 TD. Heck, even L.T came up with 4 catches. Come week 5, watch out, because our offense will explode once we add Santonio Holmes into the mix. Welker came up with a TD, but when was the last time we were able to hold Welker to only 38 yards? Moss may have had 1 big time TD, but we held Moss to only 2 catches/38 yards. Our secondary should be proud. Our defense played amazing during the 2nd half. We beat Tom Brady and the freaking Patriots without Kris Jenkins, Calvin Pace and Darrelle Revis! Antonio Cromartie played Moss to perfection and even Pool came up with a big time INT. We also won the battle of the trenches. 32 rushes, 136 yards, 4.3 average yards per carry. Our run defense held NE to only 52 yards off of 20 attempts, 2.6 average yards per carry. Last but not least, Other than Holmes, all of our offseason additions came up big for us today. Cromartie (1 INT), Pool (1 INT), L.T (102 yards), Jason Taylor (1 INT), Folk (2/2, long of 49). What an all around game for the Jets! Bring on the Dolphins for the battle of 1st place out of the AFC East! 2-1, 2-0 AFC East record? I'll take it!
I love the fact that Moss had his moment and lit Revis up with the one handed catch......and then did nothing else for the entire game. It's better to lose the battle and win the war
I'm just loving the addition of Antonio Cromartie as of right now. Yeah, he wasn't great last week against the Ravens, but he played great today. 2 INT's after 2 games? I'll take it in stride. Revis better heal up that hammy in a quickness, he's a great CB, but it's just nice to see our defense perform against the Patriots without #24.
I think the coaching staff started changing their efforts to suit Sanchez (as opposed to vice-versa) and that Sanchez really stepped up his execution. I'm impressed with the confidence he showed while playing, especially after his first pass was almost picked. I don't know if he's there yet, but this is a sign that he has the ability to play at a high level in the NFL.
