I just traded Steven Jackson for Shonn Greene straight up. Was this a smart move? I honestly think Jackson will end up injured again, and Greene is not going to put another performance like that ever again.

Was is that stupid of a thread? All offseason we've been talking about Greene becoming one of the top backs in this league behind our solid O-line. One bad game- the Jets aren't going to make the playoffs, and Greene should be cut! I guess i'm the only optimistic one around here...

The idea of buying low is to pay cheaply when a player has a bad game, not pay above his original value after a dreadful performance.

So you would have drafted Steven Jackson over Shonn Greene? Every mock draft I saw had Greene ahead of Jackson.

    This.
You didn't buy Greene low at all. Jackson and Greene were on the same tier of RBs on pretty much every draft rankings I saw. Sometimes Greene was a spot or 2 ahead...but mostly not.
If I were a Greene owner and I could trade him for Steven Jackson straight up, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

Of course, like you indicated, Jackson could certainly get injured. All trades carry an element of risk. For me, though, I'd rather have the proven stud who is a 1-man offense than an unproven RB w/fumbling issues who's sharing carries with LT.

Whatever, what's done is done. Hopefully for you Greene is able to prove himself as a capable starter over Tomlinson.

(BTW, please don't tell us this was in a PPR league....then I'd just cry)

Not a PPR league. Okay, so I will have to pray that Jackson gets injured since it seems like it wasn't the smartest deal at this point. In any case, I still believe Greene will have a great year, and that his first game, after all the hype, against the #2 defense in this league, was not a good indicator of how well he will do this season.

As the season crept up, I'm sure there were mock drafts where Greene went ahead of Jackson (Jackson's value seemed to dip into the mid-late 2nd round sometimes). If you were in a TD-heavy league, it made sense if someone thought Greene was going to score significantly more TDs than Jackson.

The point is, you kind of traded for Shonn at his pre-season price....not exactly buying low. He looked downright scary (in a bad way) against Baltimore...granted the whole offense did as well. However ,as a Jackson owner for a few years, I can testify that it was annoying watching him make appearances on "did not practice" and "questionable" lists pretty frequently. If you were nervous about him getting injured, hey, Greene isn't the most terrible option.

I agree with you that Greene will not be nearly as bad during the season, and still has a chance at double-digit TDs.

(Oh and don't pray that Jackson gets hurt....the Fantasy Gods frown on that  )

I got Greene for Johnny Knox and Darren Sproles. I kinda talked the other owner about Greene having to share carries with LT and Knox having 7 targets last game.

Btw, Jackson is already missing practice this week due to an inflamed knee, according to Yahoo Sports

This is how you buy low on Greene. Great deal for you.

I don't like SJAX at his ADP this year but after what we saw from Greene and LT last night, giving up SJAX is not buying low.
