I'll go on record and say that I think Clowney will surprise some people when he is on the field this year.
Really do not agree with bringing back a player who has blown every shot he has had with this Jets team. As much as I am NOT a fan of Coles, I would welcome him back in a heartbeat over Clowney. At least Coles can be some what productive. Clowney is a waste.
This move is a panic one. But can you blame them after last night's performance? They need another WR and Coles rejected. Should've kept him from the start. Feel bad for Woodhead though.
Why is it a panic move? The Jets likely planned on bringing one of the receivers back week 2 all along.
I'm not vouching for Clowney (or Woodhead for that matter). Having Edwards and Cotchery as the only receivers on the roster seems practically criminal. I'm starting to wonder what the coaches were smoking all summer. 4 TE's on the roster? What the hell will they do other than cover kicks? When Boss got hurt Sunday the Giants were down to one tight end. Still ran. Still passed...
The biggest thing is Brad Smith IS NOT A WR. He's listed as one but he's a ST player + trick play guy. I love him, and I love his contribution but he can't get open as a WR, doesn't have extremely good hands and isn't that good in running routes. Plus Rex and Schotty themselves said he does so many things for this team that he's tired when he goes in to play WR. So atm we have 3 WRs and against the Ravens we had 2. Hopefully when Holmes comes back we can get back up to 4 which is the right number. Or if they really want to keep those 4 TEs they should have Cumberland active...
