Figured this deserved it's own thread. It's being reported all over that he was at the Jets facility. I assume Rex wants him here and now that week 1 has passed, he can sign without the fully guaranteed salary. I think this would be a good move.. gonna have to get creative now with the Defense, and AD was a Rex favorite for his versatility in Baltimore.
Maybe, maybe not. I was big time in favor of us getting Thomas, but after last night, it looks like our Thomas is in an on-again year, and Taylor didn't do so badly and can probably be good for the next 3 games. That said, I guess you can never have too much rotation to keep the D fresh, so I'm kinda indifferent about this now, whereas before I thought it was a necessity.
Isn't Thomas an outside Linebacker? Jason Taylor and Bryan Thomas looked great last night. With Pace coming back soon, I see no need for Thomas. Can't hurt I guess.
Rather see a lineman come in... Marques Douglas perhaps... he can step in NOW... Adalius Thomas is a LB, not a DT.
Adalius Thomas played all over the field for Rex in Baltimore. OLB, MLB, DE, DT, even safety and covered Chad Johnson. This is a move about adding depth and probably going with some unconventional defensive looks. Pouha, DeVito, Kroul will probably handle most of the NT work, with Ellis potentially sliding inside on passing downs.
Ryan is a dope Adalius is 3 steps behind where he was last season, nobody would sign him in the off season. He was ineffective for the Patriots so they cut him, another poor attitude player. For crying out loud Sanchez was having words with his offensive coordinator on national tv and Ryan wants Adalius Thomas OMFG! There are much better replacements than Adalius out there. Ryan is a poor coach, likes to live off the hype. If he just shut his mouth all the teams in the NFL would not be calling for his head. Jets will likely go 8-8, because of Ryan. Jets are the team most likely to IMPLODE!
I believe the Thomas signing is eminent. But the team will still need to address NT. Douglas? Maybe, but this can't be the only move on the d-line.
I fully expect the Jets to be proactive in trying to find a replacement for Big Jenks by week 3. Hate that his career is probably over. EDIT: ADALIUS THOMAS is NOT the answer!!!
There's really no harm to signing him to give a little more rotational depth at linebacker. I have no doubt that we get both him and a veteran offensive lineman in here by Week 3
Apparently, we're not going to sign him...yet. If we bring anyone in, it will probably be Jarvis Green.
